The War on Drugs only made the drug problem worse.
Thanks Nixon.

Thanks Nixon.
Users of illegal drugs made the drug problem extant.
Thanks a lot, law-breakers.

"In 1968, Governor Shafer became involved when Pennsylvania students were supposedly blinded by LSD use. Shafer later called the incident a hoax."
I'm in total agreement on this point.
Clearly, the powers that be either clueless...or they wish the 'war' to fail. Could there be some kick-backs from the drug trade that finds its way into the pols pockets?
Proposed many years ago, this would have taken care of the problem:
1. Confiscate illegal drugs...in drug busts and arrests.
2. Adulterate the drugs...add some hard to detect element that would produce some detectable effect, such as turning the user green.
3. Recirculate the 'doctored' drugs. The sale of same would pay for the entire program.
4. At some future date, arrest all the green people. (Is that 'profiling'?)
Voilà! Problem solved, thanks to the CAR plan!
No it's great! The War on Drugs provides cheap slave labor for the privately owned and run prisons.
Who would be against that?
Ron Paul is right. The War on Drugs has failed.
