Romney got fewer votes than McCain. Where was the "excitement"

Last week, all the conservatives could talk about was the crowd size and the "excitement" on the Romney side of the ledger. He ended up getting 2 million fewer votes than McCain.

Any clues about what happened to the "excitement"

Lets see Romney got about 800,000 less than McCain

Obama got 6 Million less than last time.

I would say people are just fed up with Government, and feel like it does not matter who wins.

In 2008 McCain lost 52% to 45% got 173 electoral votes to Obama 365 and lost the popular vote by 9,522,083 in 2012 Romney lost 50% to 48% got 206 electoral votes to Obama 303 and lost the popular vote by 2,631,727 Romney got less votes where?
