Roads, guardrails, and parking garages were not designed for the weight of EVs

Why don't you tell us how that compares to ICE vehicles.... Since you are the one that keeps moving the goal posts on this thread about EV weight...

The actual topic was EV weight... Which your side got embarrassed on because of the weak arguments.

What is pretty stupid is the idea that you're a phony environmentalist if you're trying to lessen pollution/emissions but you can't be 100% clean.

If you're actually serious about reducing toxic waste then I'm sure you would love to support stronger environmental regulations on several industries.
This is hilariously inane. You‘re talking about comparing the weight of a 4500 lb car, not truck, with a 5-6000 lb car doing more damage to our roads and infrastructure. Meanwhile, they both share the same road with a plethora of long haul trucks which weight 80,000 to near 100,000 lbs

This is a ridiculous thread. far and away, long haul trucks and HD trucks in general put the vast majority of wear on our roads. We even have to restrict their use to 30,000 oil delivery trucks in the spring in northern states….this is ridiculous fear mongering.

BTW, for fear mongers, we have so much delivery of everything by UPS and fedex trucks which literally go everywhere with out restrictions. Their weight is 10,000 to 12,000 lBS. And you’re worried about Fking Teslar s.

Oh, one “ small” item fear mongers may not be unaware of. It’s called point loading. Most EVs come with slightly wider tires to keep the point loading in the same range as any other vehicle. Look up point loading…..

Road wear will be dramatically increased by EVs probably doubling highway work and taxes, doubling repairs and construction, and good luck if your EV goes off the road and all there is to stop you from going over the cliff is the guardrail or you are caught in a highway pile up with a dozen EV cars slamming into the back of a bunch of stopped cars, half of them catching on lithium fire inside a tunnel.

That tunnel will be closed for months for repairs from all of the fire, smoke and heat.

And don't even mention the environmental impact of all that smoke from burning lithium, nickel, copper and carbon.

Every car wreck will be another East Palestine.

All that oil needed to repave, tsk, tsk....

For one, I said projected. The 2012 Tesla Model S (12 years old and counting) was the first mass produced EV with proper thermal management. There are plenty still on the road today with only a tiny fraction ever getting a battery replacement (mostly free under warranty). It is obvious you know nothing about EVs.

Your welcome.
And still, a fire with an ice car is 100 times more likely.
And do you know what can causes fires in ice cars…this is hilarious. In some cases, It’s the 12 colt lead acid battery battery that all so called non electric cars have. Even the ICE car is ELECTRIC. for nearly all its functions except for the drive motor….Geesus. We already have ELECTRIfied cars. The gasoline tank is a firebomb. Gesesus, we use fossil fuels in war time to fire bomb our enemy. We don’t drop batteries on them. Hilarious thread.

EVs are a disaster on multiple dimensions. Even the popular idea the pollution from vehicles is lower with EVs is wrong. This doesn't even account for the pollution from the additional power generation needed to sustain EV operations and the heavy metal pollution from the heavy metal mining and disposal.

Because those giant SUVs and pickup trucks people are driving these days are so much lighter.

Actually. You are misrepresenting the results of the study. The particles from tire wear are worse than the particulate emissions from an engine. It doesn’t mention and does not cover the harm from anything but particulate emissions. Specifically particulate emissions from new and modern cars. In Europe that means small engines, probably less that two liter, and small cars.

It would be like comparing the emissions from. Chevrolet Subdivision to a Kia Rio.

So ICE cars don’t use tires ? Is that your claim now ? Hilarious. You must love funding fossil fuel wars.

Not really a valid comparison

Compare it to a Camry at 3300 lbs
All lies…
Road damage by cars and regular PU trucks is minimal compared to 80k to 100 k long haul trucks that travel the same roads…it’s a stupid thread.

Maybe the out of shape fat and or obese democrats could lose weight

The thread is about heavy EVs
Hilarious. The thread is about reality non math person. You’re not an observant person are you. The damage to roads is by long haul trucks, and maximum width vehicles not EVs. You think 6000 Ibs is the same as 100,000 lbs ?

And no, foolish, 17 , 6000 lb cars is not worse than one 100,000 Truck. All roads have a maximum load bearing capability. The closer you get, the More damage occurs. Next time you drive down the interstate, notice the depressions in the roads. They match long haul truck and maximum width vehicles, not EVs of any type. Get a life.

Hilarious. Roads, are designed for vehicles MUCH HEAVIER than EVs. Any idiot who drives in the highway should know that….you don’t drive ?
