Then ACA happened, and we never had those meetings again. The Employers were told what the bottom was and we never got below that again.

But who opposed it? Small businesses who didn't want to pay the fee, insurance companies who didn't want to compete with the government.

Here's the ironic thing- the people who truly do need real medical attention get it from the government, mostly the elderly and disabled. If you are healthy enough to work, for the most part, you don't really have that many health issues that require treatment.

Now, for what I want. I'd like to see single payer in this country. I'd also like to see a complete ban on private gun ownership and world peace, but I'm a realist, so we have to work with what we have.

Probably what I would do is create a public option like HillaryCare and allow a Medicare buy-in for people over 55 that would take some of the pressure off private insurance, and they can focus on just insurance healthy workers as a perk for employment.

The real problem, of course, is that as we get older as a society, health insurance is going to be a bigger and bigger concern. We never imagined a society where everyone lives until they are 80, but that's where we are now.

Obama turned the economy around, ended Bush's war, and rolled back the tax cuts for rich people, and the deficit shrank to 400 billion a year. STILL way too high, but better.

Along come Trump, gives another huge tax break to the rich,and yup, deficits are springing back up to a trillion dollars again. Oh, he stomped his little feet again, because they wouldn't give him a wall, but he signed off on it.
