Republican party may have died today.

i agree with the dont panic. but having said that, FCX is killing me. my other stocks are doing ok though. not dropping too much.

Hang in there bro'... if the companies were good when you bought them, unless something has changed inside them, they're still good.

We are going to need a ship-load of solid, medium and large corporations to bridge into the next economy and you'll make money if you hang in there.

On the other hand, if the whole thing goes down the shitter, it won't matter if you are burning stock certificates or wallet-size photos of famous Americans to keep warm... I didn't sell a thing this month.

-Joe

You will only be hurt if you own stock in companies that aren't healthy. Most of the stock in your 401-K will be just fine in a few years.

It is only a 'loss' if you sell. The bad-boys in the investment banking business are counting on you and me to panic... Don't give them the satisfaction!

After Georgie-boy, the republicans need a spanking... as do the 'old school' democrats. Make your vote count - research your representatives this year. Base your desire to re-hire them on their courage this week.

Toss out the lap-dogs of the lobbyists who voted for this POS bill and reward the ones who courageously listened to the people... regardless of the color of their political skin.

-Joe

If what you were saying were correct, I might agree with you. The problem is that credit is now frozen. Companies like Caterpiller already cannot get lenders to meet their short term needs, including payroll. So long as this isn't fixed, they anticipate a loss of !00,000 jobs per month into the new year.

I'd say that warrants interference in the free market.

The Republicans refused to vote with Bush. The Dems tried to push it through, and were flabbergasted that their own people voted against them.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

It just shows how out of touch they are with the American people. Because that's why they voted against it. The constituents flooded DC with threats of pulling votes if this crap was forced on us.

When the American people who are so against this bailout start losing their jobs and stop being able to purchase things because their credit drys up they will blame BUSH and the Republican party Allie...

Bush and Paulson did a shit job explaining to the people WHY this bailout was necessary.... They think it's just more bad moeny being thrown away but in truth its an unfortunate reality to keep the economy from completely grinding to a halt.

the market dropped AGAIN after the bill failed to pass. All the American people will care about is that it's the fault of the Repubs for it's failure.

They went in saying that 60% of Dems would support it and 60% of Repubs would support it so that neither party took the full hit by the people for what they see as a bad idea. Republicans cared more about how they appear to their voters instead of just doing what is best for the country right now.

Trust me... there is either going to be a huge price correction in everything from rubber dog shit to auto factories and the money will start flowing as soon things stabilize. This could happen sooner than later, depending on our attitudes, especially if the government invests that 700 billion into infrastructure.

Or...

There will be rioting in the streets.

Exciting times, eh?

-Joe

No they won't. They proved today that they aren't as stupid as you all would like to believe. And they won't stupidly believe something that isn't true.

The American people KNOW the reason this mess has happened. It started with sub-prime mortgages and snowballed from there. The lefty insistence that credit be available to one and all, that every immigrant and minimum-wage earner be able to get a loan for a house and a new car and brand new furniture...

That's what caused this mess. It's over. We cannot and will not continue to support a whole population of people so they can live beyond their means. People must be accountable for themselves or this is what happens.

How is that... The Dems have the MAJORITY. They could of passed it on their own... What about the 90+ of their own that voted against it?

Again, why would they take the hit for the incompetence of your admin? (Though I'm sure you'd like seeing the neo-cons run against the "socialist" dems for doing what YOUR president asked for).

Why do we want fighting in the streets? I have a 10 year old. I want a decent world for him. Not a world corrupted by partisan BS.

BTW, stock market just dropped over 770 points. If you have a 401K, that might be of interest to you.

Sub prime mortgages.
Money for all...despite their inability to repay.

Those aren't Republican turds, honey.

The Democrats passed a law that mandated that private banks risk $700 billion on unqualified people or face federal prosecution?

With George Bush in the White House?

Really?

When?

And this is why you want to bail out corrupt scum bags ?? Just pay the ransom? Negotiate with financial terorists ??

Fuck them. Bail out nobody. Let it crash and burn, and the world crash and burn with it, and start from the ashes.

It's been a long time coming. We'll still be head and shoulders above the rest.

Most of us don't. It is up to us to help keep others from panicking while watching out for the anything that is possible for the next 10 years. Including those who would seek to profit from harm during various degrees of chaos.

This is big in our history. Like WWII and Columbus running home to Spain yelling "Dudes! You're never gonna guess what I've found!!!" big.

One of the CNN wall street journalists said that the first day she worked for CNN, the stock market stopped trading, and as bad as this is, and as potentially bad as it MIGHT become, all the squawking about it being the worst day ever is ridiculous. It's a bad day, but it's not the end of the world.

It's been a good day, I was extremely surprised to hear about this not getting passed. We do not need this bailout in any way shape or form. We are headed for tough times, but they would be a lot if this bailout had passed. This would only solve a short term problem while adding to a bigger problem overall.

Of course, even by voting this down nothing will necessarily be solved. Government has to stop spending, stop inflating the money supply, and allow the market to stabilize itself. God forbid we live within our means for a while.

It's proof that the American people are smarter than Nancy Pelosi.

Big surprise, that.

The problem is that it could be up for vote again as soon as Thursday, so do not by any means stop harassing your congressmen and women. Ralph Regula and I have a lot to discuss, the bastard.

For those of you who are proponents of the EESA (bailout) Bill, don’t worry, from what I can tell by listening to several news channels this afternoon, neither White House nor Congressional proponents of the bill intends to let this go. As usual, it seems they intend to act, or re-act in this case, despite the will of the people.

I wouldn’t be surprised if another version of this bill is drafted up by week’s end and voted on over the weekend or early next week.

I just sent Senator McCain another email asking him to stop promoting this POS. I hope other likeminded voters will do the same.

I sent him one, too.

I also told him he was making a mistake by letting Bush handlers hold Palin back. They need to turn her loose.
