Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) Apologizes and Perhaps the Quote of the Year So Far

Grayson added in another apparent dig at the GOP, “We should care about people even after they are born.”

If you cons do not see the imprtance of this statement, then it is either because you are too stupid to read, or you simply choose not to see it.

you fucking maniacs dont care about kids before their born you sure as hell dont give a flying fuck about them after.

The GOP fought tooth and nail against SCHIP. Sorry Skippy, but the facts are not in your favor.

Most GOP supporters are lean on specifics, but since I can't tell if you are a GOP supporter or not, I will ask. Which people are the healthcare reforms bad for, and why, specifically?

I'm not a GOP supporter because the parties care first about their own power.

The bills being debated today are all bad for us. We cannot afford them. That doesn't mean that I don't realize we need to do something, but what is being proposed will hurt us. We can't afford the increased taxes or the deficit that will result if taxes are not increased. Small business can not afford the forced compliance. Most of us can not afford being forced to carry our own insurance if our employers can't.

Something has to be done! I don't have the solution but what has been proposed will not help.

I have two daughters who are not working and are over 20 years old and living at home. Both are currenty covered by my insurance, but that will run out for them soon. I can see the benefit of having the government mandate that you (yes, you, VAYank) pay for my daughter's healthcare in the near future, but that is not the best solution.

You don't see the issue here? If you can't provide your own health insurance, who do you think gets taxed to help cover your care when you or your daughters need it?

I do see the issue.

First of all, I have insurance and at the moment my daughters do as well. However, I do not know how long my employer can continue to cover most of my insurance and when they don't anymore, I am not sure I can. I see the plans being proposed as causing lots of problems for small business and that concerns me. I work in accounting and have recommened that my employer increase the cost to the employee for coverage. So far, he has refused because he wants to be sure his employees are covered but many small businesses can not maintain this and in fact I am afraid my employer will be forced out of business because of health care.

Second, to be quite honest with you, for the time being until a better alternative is offered, I would rather be taxed or have my insurance premiums where they are for emergency care for the poor than to throw together a Health Care Reform bill that hurts or destroys small business.

Again, I know we need to do something. I just don't have any ideas myself.

I know you stated that you are not a GOP supporter, but based on what you have stated, you have bought into their fearmongering hook, line and sinker and you have no ideas, but are willing to fight the people who have ideas tooth and nail, based on your fears. I hate to say it, but you fit right into the mold of a GOP supporter.

And don't forget they also fought against medicare calling it socialized medicine and even feared that it will lead to socialism in America… Now if you republicans feel that way still why not just do away with medicare, I do realize that would also require for your drones in congress to write a bill on health care period.

Think Progress » Grayson stands by criticism of Republican plan: ‘I would like to apologize to the dead.’

Overall, good article.

Yesterday, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) said the Republican health care plan is “don’t get sick,” and if you do get sick, “die quickly.” After offering those facetious and sadly accurate remarks, Grayson came under criticism from Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), who demanded that Grayson apologize on the House floor. Speaking to reporters this afternoon, Grayson said, “Yes, it was tongue-in-cheek. I’m surprised I have to explain that, but that’s the way it goes these days.” He added that he’s “not taking any of it back” and will “stand by what I said.” When asked if he would apologize, Grayson offered this response:

“I would like to apologize,” he said. “I would like to apologize to the dead.”

However, this is what I consider to be the quote of the year:

Grayson added in another apparent dig at the GOP, “We should care about people even after they are born.”

:clap2:

This is funny. Does that imply the dems only kill people before they are born, but if they make it that far, they will cut open the veins of the strong to give their life blood to the leeches of society?

You want health care, earn it, get a job with benefits, buy your own, by working.
There are gov programs for those that cannot afford health care.
There is medical treatment for anyone that walks in an emergency room.

The dems cannot show how "government takeover of the medical industry" will benefit the taxpayer. The dems cannot demonstrate where their healthcare plan will cut medical costs (they are talking the talk, but when have they ever walked the walk).

They choose to call people uncaring because their "health care plan" is about voiding the Bill of Rights. If you do not believe me, read the bills and see if you can find ANY protections for citizens/patients. Some that are close to the president have and are discussing forced sterilizations and abortions (their selection). Will this allow them to determine what parts of the country are allowed to reproduce? Will this allow them to sterilize populations in dense centers of population? Some are publicly suggesting cutting health care for "republicans" to help "pay" for the gov takeover.
This plan will not give health care to everyone. It will just give the gov the power to decide who "is worthy" of healthcare (if you don't go along with the subjegation of the country, well, no healthcare for you). It will not eliminate death; it will not eliminate suffering, it will give the government the power to decide who DOESN'T get healthcare.

why should he support ideas he disagrees with and believes will make the overall economy worse? why is that "succumbing" to fearmongering?

why does that make him a *gasp* GOP supporter? there are democrats who don't support the bill(s) currently in front of congress as well.

They have no ideas that will help Americans.

Read the bills and think about your employer and what those bills will do to them and then ask yourself, what your representatives have done for you lately.

I love Grayson taking on the Federal Reserve

Well, I know you are being scarcastic, but there is an answer for it, it's the standard argument of the Obamatron supporters, anyone who opposes them are evil GoPers no matter what they say.

I am against this Obamacare mess for the same two reasons I have been from the start:

It can't be paid for and the government can never be trusted to do things correctly, the mess that is medicade and medicare are examples of good intentions not panning out the way they were intended.

It doesn't help this that Barry lies his ass off about it either.

The polls aern't lying, less then half the country is buying into this, if they pass it, it will be against the will of the people and they will pay for it politically, and its very likely to be repealed before it even sees the light of day.

Cheap-ass dishonest rhetoric from a lying sack of shit liberal Democratic, like Rep. Grayson, deserves no "applause" or "thanks."

Liberoidal Democratics are VERY concerned with killing the pre-born, but pay expensive lip-service ONLY to 'caring for people' AFTER they escape state sponsored mass extermination prior to birth.

I don't give a crap if a lying sack of shit like Rep. Grayson apologizes or not. I'd rather use his dishonest rhetoric as a tool to expose the liberoidal Democratics for what they are.

Just more cheap-talk, and not-so-clever rhetoric that folks cheer about.

Maybe someday, we'll cheer a politician who gives a rational and thoughtful analysis - one who does not assume his/her constituency and/or party is just a bunch of morons who can be torqued-up into a cheer.

But, the supply of politicians sure does meet the demand.

Maybe the majority will raise their expectations someday.

How do you KILL something that is "pre-born" exactly?

We can't afford it? How is it that we can afford to invade foreign countries, destroy their infrastructure and then build it back FOR THEM?

I say this guy on Rachel Maddow's show last night.

He is the biggest fucking liar I have seen in some time, he calimed the GoP was blocking everything, knowing full well the GoP lacks the votes to block anything.

Rache never called him on this bullshit but only smirked and nodded in agreement.

Since it escapes you, we couldn't afford that either, and unlike you, i was actually protesting that from the start while you waved a flag and said ok, go get em!

Good. So, you would be in favor of closing down our military operations in Japane and the UK, as well as our "wars" in Afghanistan and Iraq, and then funnel that money to actually hlep people in our own country?
