Doesn't the TEMP really depend on how LONG the time span?

Would for example you get the same average temp if you average was taking a temp every minute versus every hour or every three hours etc?

As has been shown, programming errors exist in leaked source code. Therefore to see if the averages used are accurate, the source data needs to be available. This isn't a question about degree of accuracy, it's a question of programming competence.

Even worse, I have shown how even a well documented country like the USA has had its historical annual temps revised to add to the trend, in most years since 2000.

I believe that certain corrections need to be made for specific conditions like time-of-day, or change of thermometer technology. What I don't believe is that we can endlessly go back and change historical readings to match what we think they should have been.

The WMO (World Meteorlogical Org) around 1957 established a communication protocol for worldwide sharing of weather data. There are World Data Centers that collate the data in several locations. One is in the USA (Asheville, NC), with counterparts elsewhere in the world.

Using WDC Asheville as the example, they receive the data from around the world. When almost all of it comes in, it gets autoprocessed down into a more digestible lump. Which can be downloaded here.

NOAA: WMO Resolution 40

If you actually want raw station data, WDC Asheville will send it to you, but it's not a website download. You have to request specifically what you want, and pay them for the additional processing and handling.

Some weather station data is declared as proprietary by the country of origin. If someone has gotten it from WDC Asheville, they are not allowed to redistribute it by publicly posting it on the internet. Hence why you don't find worldwide raw station data on the internet.

And if that's the vast conspiracy, it's been going on since 1957 or so. Crafty, how those warmers planned ahead like that.

Update:

I requested the raw station data from WDC Asheville and was ignored, then referred to the UK Met office. When I explained that I was looking for raw station data and not averages I was told that this data is not available for the public.

A college friend of mine and fellow DSI member asked for the raw station data for a study demonstrating low-power solar computing for field use in climate modeling. The premise was that a 100% solar powered computer could perform in a satisfactory fashion while running an early climate model. He was told that the data was not available.

A climatologist friend of mine asked for the data just to shut me up. In the three months since she asked she's been ignored, put off, and finally last week was told that "the data is not available to the level of granularity you request."

This is old news to some, but for others who claim to know otherwise the challenge remains.

Can anyone actually get the raw station data?

You will not be able to get any raw data from any AGW controlled asset, like the station in Ashville.

Even when one uses the so called climate models there one of the scribes must enter the data for you.

After the data is entered even if you enter negative variables eventually it will show a warming. The climate models regardless of input will always show a warming.

James Hansen was asked to supply his raw data to examine and the source code he used to come up with his is so called predictions, 30 years later he still has not released a lot of this information.

The AGW church protects this data and only loyal scribes are allowed to access it and use it.

Believe it or not, it _is_ possible to write software without first having a team create a thousand-page requirements document.

play semantics I see.Raw data would be the actual temperature measurement at the time it was taken. If the temp is taken hourly then you would provide 24 readings for a single day, if taken daily one per day.

I have shown in the past how single stations have been adjusted from year to year, typically adding a large fraction of the warming trend. Even worse, I have shown how even a well documented country like the USA has had its historical annual temps revised to add to the trend, in most years since 2000.

Yes, of course I do. The adjustments have all increased the trend except for the the short lived downward correction prompted by McIntyre finding the Y2K bug.

If the best documented country in the world has serious mistakes sitting on the books for years, what makes you think poorly measured countries are correct and impervious to being adjusted in 'preferred' directions? SLR succumbed to pressure to show the 'right' result when they added the bogus GIA. How many other areas have been pushed in the right direction to support CAGW?
