Racist Lapd Detains Interracial Couple For Prostitution

The police have the right and authority to ask for ID and you do not have the authority to ignore them when they stop you and walk away with out first discussing it with said police.

They can ask, but you are no obligation to show it to them or speak to them. California does not have a stop and identify statute.
You're correct, you are under no obligation to show ID.
Then what happens?

You do NOT have the authority to simply ignore a cop even in Liberal land California. She was approached and IGNORED the officer attempting to leave with out even responding.

Stop and identify does not apply when the police are specifically looking to question YOU about a potential crime.

As a quick example.

Let's say you''re standing near a bank when it is robbed and the police respond a a police officer sees you and yells "hey you, who are you" now if you live in a stop and identify state, you MUST of course identify yourself, If you don't , then you are under no obligation to do so.

But let's instead assume you are IN the bank and an employee fears that you might be there to rob the bank and they call the cops on YOU specifically. In that case when the police show up and ask YOU specifically questions, stop and identify is a moot point as they have reasonable suspicion to detain you.

This is why I tell people, they MUST know their rights before they go around screaming about their rights. This woman may have done nothing wrong initially, but she certainly didn't react to the police correctly.

Oh, and the crying? Give her the academy.

We may never find out what really happened because Watts was never arrested nor booked. There is no record of this happening at all. For all we know, this was fabricated like so many white on black hate crimes are fabricated.

As this happened in broad daylight in a city where interracial couples are many the premise is suspect. Out of all the hundreds if not thousands of interracial couples, why would this one be singled out? It would be more believable if it happened in a small town where interracial couples were an oddity.

Her new show "Partners" isn't doing well in the ratings. Perhaps she needed a career boost.

Didn't you see the photo of her, handcuffed and in tears?

Yes, obviously she's making it up because she's black.
Even if the story is true she was stupid for not showing ID.

She didn't do anything wrong. She doesn't need to show ID.

There are a lot of black women prostitutes in the area. Them bitches are ruining the reputation for ALL black women apparently.

How come the majority of what you have to say on here is just you bashing black people? Are there no other types of topics that you feel compelled to contribute to, rather than leaping at the opportunity to diss black culture every chance you get?

What a pathetic man you are.

Now in West Hollywood a man of any race kissing a woman of any race would raise a few eyebrows.

On local news the complaint was indecent exposure. So they weren't standing on the sidewalk just kissing.

She was under no obligation to show her ID since she was not committing any crime. We have this thing called the Fourth Amendment. You may have heard of it.

If she was mistaken for a known prostitute, and police were called, and she resembled the person in question, then a Terry Stop, based on Supreme Court law Terry v. Ohio, would be justified, which requires identification....even if temporary detention is needed to do so.

For an avid cop hater....you don't know shit about the laws they enforce.

We have a gigantic problem with black culture in the US. What is wrong with pointing out those problems? I certainly don't see the black community making any positive steps on their own, therefore the rest of us should shame them into changing. Shaming has certainly worked for fighting racism within the white community, so I see no reason why it shouldn't work for the racism and violence in the black community.

You would be amazed at how quickly the problems in the black community would disappear if they would just get embarrassed when they behaved badly.

She wasn't mistaken for a known prostitute. This is a local story for me. It was all over the news. No one accused her of being a prostitute. She said that she FELT like she was being treated like a prostitute. Her boyfriend (it wasn't her husband after all) said he FELT like they were accused of prostitution. They were in a car. The door was open. She was sitting on his lap. Whether they were just making out or fucking is speculation. A man, specifically identified by the two as being a white man in a suit, came out of the office building and said that the show they were putting on was distracting the people in the office building. Everyone was at the windows watching. Would they stop. They didn't. The man called the police. The two were detained on the basis of indecent exposure. Watts was put in handcuffs because she refused to cooperate. Likely she became belligerent. If the police believe that someone is becoming combative, they can put them in handcuffs.

No charges were filed and no one was arrested. Likely because the police never had any intention of making an arrest, only getting the couple to stop having sex in public.

Ahh yes more to the story. They were approached by police for indecent acts in public. And she Immediately claimed racism when all the cop did is ask for her ID. The story is driven by the stupidity of the woman not the cops.

Yep. Like 99% of cop hate hit pieces......the truth finally comes out.

The cop hate being stirred by the media is truly threatening the domestic peace in this nation.

Like 99% of the incidents described as racism it's phony. Why didn't she just say "you can't stop me. I'm black."

The OP doesn't care. All he wants to do is smear the reputation of police officers. He probably was acting retarded and got tazed by a cop once.
