Question for those pushing a "living wage"

Please use some numbers to show us how this happens.

That or admit you are doing nothing more than parroting Chris Matthews.

Can you guys plesae choose which side of the fence you want to be on?

You call Democrats slavemasters because their social programs make poor people dependent on Government. Raising minimum wages will help to break that dependency

I still haven't seen facts or figures for proof from Chris or rightwinger.

Nor will you because the premise is poppycock. Distorting our economy's wage scale to satisfy the socialist's sanctimony will not break the dependency of those who, by their own actions (or inactions), wallow on the bottom rung of the food chain. The obvious solution is for those who demand higher wages for them is to establish their own businesses and pay those higher wages.
It won't happen because socialists are all whine and no action.

Where will the working poor receive their support?

Their employer or the taxpayer...........your choice

We have been raising the minimum wage for 50 years. Each time it has been raised, conservatives have whined that it is bad for business, people will lose jobs, the economy will suffer

Somehow, the market adjusts, life goes on, the sun still rises and low wage people have a little more money in their pocket

It is bad for business and bad for the employment rate of the least skilled citizens

And yet you did not address the very valid point I made... typical

Yea...we should have kept the $1 an hour wage

It would have save business trillions

There is nothing wrong with raising the min wage as long as it is done for market reasons ... not to make you feel better. It will, as has been repeatedly and painstakingly explained to you, cause all other wages and prices to rise. It will not diminish the need for gov't subsidies to the lower wage earners. Only lowering the bar at which they qualify for aid will accomplish that.

I suppose you are one of the people who say increasing CEO pay has no negative effects on people? If a min wage increase causes prices to rise, then so does increasing CEO pay.

As a 1995 paper in the Journal of Economics Literature put it, “There is a long history of empirical studies attempting to pin down the effects of minimum wages, with limited success.” No one found significant employment losses when President Truman raised the minimum wage by 87% in 1950. When Congress raised the minimum wage by 28% in two steps in 1967, businesses predicted large employment losses and price increases. As the Wall Street Journal reported six months later, “Employment and prices show little effect from $1.40-an-hour guarantee.”

The government pays $1.2 billion dollars in benefits to people who work at McDonalds.

Wouldn't it be better for McDonalds to pay their workers a living wage rather than to have a hugely profitable corporation that sells bad food be subsidized by the taxpayer?

Ok, so let us say we will sit down, all of us workers and taxpayers, and talk about the minimum wage.
I am all ears.
I am self employed. I have hard earned savings of a few hundred thousand dollars invested in my business just to open the damn doors.
So right of the bat what is my guaranteed minimum wage? Where is there a law that guaranteed I will make a damn thing?
Either we have a free market THAT EVERYONE IS IN or we keep carving out special favors for everyone BUT THE SMALL BUSINESSMAN.

Our asses always have to fucking pay for it.

Republicans want to reward ownership.
Democrats want to reward work.
That is why Republicans want to reduce capital gains taxes to zero, and abolish the minimum wage.

If we are speaking of what is better as you say it would be better if we DID NOT pay 1.2 billion dollars in benefits to people who work at McDonalds.
AND no raise in the minimum wage.
That would be better.
Pay them nothing in benefits, zero.
They can work 2 jobs.
Uh, QUIT subsidizing them.
Fucking no brainer.
That would be better, as you say.

So I did not have to work any to have ownership?
Are you fucking crazy or something?

Sure take it away from them. Good way to bring out the vote and elect Democrats. No politician is going to stop welfare.

You do not have any place to work unless someone has put their life's savings and hard work into the place where the work is.
The liberal is a complete dumb ass on anything business.

How long will this trend last before we are out of the ability to borrow 25 cents of every dollar government spends from the Chinks?
30 trillion or 40 trillion in debt?

Without your employees, you wouldn't have a damned business.

You wouldn't make a profit unless you had people willing to work so YOU could put aside several hundred thousand dollars and pay them a pittance.

Well how about the business owners stop collecting corporate welfare? How about they stop sending the jobs to China?

I suppose you are one of the people who say increasing CEO pay has no negative effects on people? If a min wage increase causes prices to rise, then so does increasing CEO pay.

Uh, no. Most all increases in a CEOs pay is because of the stock options they placed. The rise in the stock is the raise in the compensation of the CEO.
CEO gets nothing on an option unless the total value and profits of the company rose and then whatever value that rise was on the stock that he tendered on his option is what he gets as extra compensation.
If the company does bad the options are not worth anything. The CEO can retain any stock option for a later date.
Does not cause prices to rise at all. Investors bought that stock that the CEO sold to raise his compensation. All the company did was handle the stock sales. Did not cost the company anything other than a few minutes administrative work.

I don't and most all small businesses do not.
So stay on topic.
The topic is I have worked 70 hour weeks for 40 years full time. Worked all last weekend, a holiday. Drove old cars to put 3 kids through college. Saved my money and invested my hard work and earnings into my business.
So open your ears:
Where is my minimum wage. I RISK EVERYTHING.
Where is my damn guarantee?
That is the 2nd time I asked you.

Nope.
Self employed, no employees.
Ever.
Why do you take guesses instead of asking some background questions?
