Japan is doing what American gun owners have been calling for....they actually punish people who use guns illegally...severely.....and that has reduced their gun crime rate.....not limiting guns to law abiding people......

So...if we just followed what gun advocates have called for....you know...putting criminals who use guns to commit crime in prison for a long time....and putting felons caught with guns in prison for a long time....our gun crime rate would decrease......

Yakuza Wars: Is Japan on Verge of New Wave of Gang Fighting?

ccording to Suzuki, contemporary mafia wars have become very different from what they used to be in the past after the government in recent years introduced very strict penalties for the use of both firearms and bladed-weapons.

-----

Nowadays, Yakuza gangs need to save their troops as even for a small-scale confrontation several of their members could get arrested. If in the past, killers would get no more than 10 years in prison and upon release they would get a high-ranking position; now they could be facing at least 30 years behind the bars, which means a person's life is essentially over and that changed things dramatically, Suzuki said.

Furthermore, new Japanese anti-gang rules now hold Yakuza bosses responsible for crimes committed by lower-status members of a criminal syndicate, said Atsushi Mizoguchi, another expert on the Japanese crime scene.

"So the bosses will be reluctant to get into a struggle," Mizoguchi told journalists during a press conference last year in Tokyo.

So.....actually arrest gun criminals and put them away for life....target gang leaders.....but we can't do what japan does......and arrest gang leaders for their lower level members.....or fine them millions of dollars if their lower level members shoot people......

Now....if the Japanese will follow the advice of American gun owners...why won't the U.S. government.....gun prosecutions are way down under obama......

Just outlaw bullets, they're not constitutionally protected, only the right to bear arms is.

Criminal mishandling of firearms should be vigorously punished. A firearm that 'goes off' is testifying against the person in charge of it.

Yeah, no one arrests gang members in america.

Do you realize that convicted felons, caught with an illegal gun can be back on the street in in less than a week awaiting trial.......the guy who shot Hadiya Pendelton...the girl in obama's chicago neighborhood was one of those guys...

Prosecutors and judges do not take gun crime seriously....and why did obama stop prosecuting gun crimes?

The murder rate in Japan is 1/5th that of the US.

Yes......their criminals do not commit murder as often as ours do. Their bosses and their culture keep them from murdering people.
