The original and real meaning of sect is the commandment to unconditionally OBEY the elders, who in fact, in the case of the Ordo Illuminatus, are as many as ONE, the Illuminati Grand Master.
In other words: the Ordo Illuminatus is not only a sect but also a perfect pyramid.
A sectarian religion is not necessarily a sect.
But ANY sect is more sectarian than ANY religion that is not a sect.

The first reason for creating sects: ensure robotical control of believers.
As for evolution, this control is completed by other means, starting by preventing the members of the church (everybody) to be confronted with the truth by simply never ever allowing evolution to be questioned in schools and media.

Protestantism was created by breakaways from the Roman Catholic Church, hence the name. They were protesting abuses that were going on in the church at the time. The LDS Church was created by Joseph Smith. Evolution was created by nobody, because it's a process that's been occurring since before people existed. The JWs were founded by Charles Taze Russell from the ashes of the Millerites. Scientology was created by L. Ron Hubbard, who had more influence from Aleister Crowley than the Illuminati. The Illuminati ceased to exist after the Bavarian elector Karl Theodore and Pope Pius VI joined forces to destroy them for preaching radical concepts like freedom of religion.
