I think there is a good fraction of conservatives and republicans and independents that have been holding their nose while supporting Trump. But there is a breaking point within everybody and comments like this recent one will take a fraction of people to their breaking point. Many are already well past the point and I expect they won’t be voting for him again.

I certainly don’t think he is adding to his supporters with comments like this... and I know it is strengthening the resolve of his opponents

Not a position I’d want to be in. And if I’m being honest there is perhaps too much emphasis towards the “gotchyas” trying to throw Trumps words back in all other Republicans faces. They are in a really tough position as they are trying to progress their agenda while they hold power, but they have to continuously deal with these unnecessary and, to be frank, idiotic statements from their parties leader. It is rather pathetic when I hear the ones that try to spin and justify this crap though, I lose respect for the ones that do that.
