It really is difficult to imagine that firing Mueller would be a smart move politically, but maybe it is. Who knows.

Is it a good idea, a bad idea, or a matter of "principle"?
/-----/ Firing Muller will give the democRATS ammunition for the midterms to use against Trump. Remember when Bush fired some of the attorneys in the DOJ which he is permitted to do? democRATS had a field day and called for Bush's impeachment. It's best to let Mueller flail away like Don Quixote tilting at windmills.

Well, the investigation has reportedly gone to shit. Lacks credibility. However it won't be good politically imo. The media will eat it up. Ergo, everyone will think he is guilty.
If he was investigating anyone else people would want him fired. Probably already would have been..

"reportedly" -- not by anyone who is telling the truth. if they weren't worried, they'd let it run it's course... like ken Starr's and like the Watergate investigation before it.

your ignorant opinion is duly noted. but the minute you do the democRATS thing nothing else you say matters since it's a sign that you're a complete moron.

Bad idea!

Just opening up a can of worms that the media and social media will feast on!

It's probably wrong on principle, but here's the reality.

If Mueller is getting close to sending Trump family members to the big house, then, um, yeah, it's probably a good idea to fire him, pardon everyone involved and dare Congress to impeach his ass, because frankly, they haven't shown the balls to directly confront him so far.

again, Ken Starr started out investigating a land deal and ended up investigating blow jobs... and you Right Wing Nuts were fine with it.

The only thing Mueller has done is expose what a clown Trump is, but we should have already known that. in fact, we did, which is why most of us voted against him.

I was like 12, you tunnel vision dumbfuck

Given the exact same set of circumstances, if it was an investigation into a Democratic President, the left would be howling for his dismissal, and their guy would do it without a thought to what the right thought or would do.

Of course, the progressives want this to keep going, in a faint hope that something will come of it. They will then be able to say, "We have proof!".

I like the idea of giving him a deadline. Wrap it up and send your recommendations to the Justice Departement by January 31, 2018.

Okay, let's look at that.

We had that guy. His name was Ken Starr. He spent 70 million dollars in what was supposed to be an investigation of a land deal (where the Clintons lost their investment) and morphed into investigations about Travel Office Firings, FBI Files, Vince Foster's Suicide, Hillary's Law Firm records and finally, whether or not Bill Clinton lied about an affair with Monica Lewinsky, who was in elementary school when the Land Deal happened.

Guess what, after Starr had to sheepishly admit that he could find no wrongdoing except for the sex scandal, no one called for him to be fired. He eventually just quit on his own to go run Baylor university and cover up a pattern of rapes by the Student Athletes.

That would just give Trump and company an incentive to run out the clock with legal motions.

Mueller has to go. The 'investigation' has clearly been compromised. He should step down. But if they have to fire him, so be it. His 'investigation' is an epic debacle.

The republicans control congress. They can effectively put an end to the Mueller investigation at anytime. All they have to do is pass a resolution stating that Trump should fire Mueller and end the investigation. That would give Trump enough cover to do it without obstruction of justice charges being used for impeachment proceedings.
