Maoist China attempted to kill everyone who disagreed with them. Same with the French during the Reign of Terror, when they established a Communist State.

Now that said, by your statement, you obviously disagree with me, and it's okay to be wrong, however if you want to try not giving up instantly just because you know you can't win, how about giving me ANY Right Wing policies implemented under Hitler?

Wanting to kill everyone that disagrees is not a core tenant of the left. Rather, it is a core tenant of the totalitarian.

By defining the left as 'wanting to kill everyone' you are committing a no true Scotsman logical fallacy. Of course Hitler falls on the left when you define the left to make it so but there is noting that puts wanting to kill detractors on the left or the right. That is an inherent trait of TOTALITARIAN regimes which can be left or right. See above to Hutch: classifying Hitler into a modern US political party is an exercise in futility.

And nationalism does not encompass the entirety of Hitler's Nazi party politics. The fact that he was a nationalist does not mean that Hitler is 'right wing.'

And he was for strict gun control, abortion, very strict controls over the market, government backed medical care and a hoist of other policies that are on the left side of the spectrum. Clearly, placing Hitler on the left/right political spectrum is more difficult than 'he is right wing.'

What generally places Hitler of the right and Mao on the left is that Hitler's vision was to use a totalitarian regime to enforce a moral and lifestyle standard where Mao wanted to use his totalitarian regime to control production and industry. Both of them realistically did both of those things.

Ultimately I find the idea that Hitler, Mao and the host of other terrible leaders fall on a political spectrum with US political parties (because lets face it, this quiz is about American politics) is asinine at best. Hitler and Mao have nothing to do with modern political positions in this country. They were totalitarian - the policies surrounding that fact are ultimately irrelevant. Hitler did not kill millions of people because of his right wing or left wing positions nor did those positions have anything to do with him getting to that ultimate end game. The totalitarian nature of their regimes is where that came from.

No purpose whatsoever is served by truing to categorize those leasers in modern US political parties.

Maybe Hitler doesn't really fit into any type of party at all. Not everyone does. And, he was crazy too, so there is that to consider.

As much as both parties - gripped by today's comically hyperbolic partisanship - want to compare the other to Hitler, he and his goofy pals were their own brand of crazy.

Putting Fascism into a political category was done years ago. Most Americans knew in the Thirties that Hitler was a Fascist and the socialism part was confusing to people, and still is. Most, if not all, books on political ideologies define Fascism as right wing.

And that is the asinine part of trying to fit everything in a right/left paradigm. Simply assigning Fascism to the right is no more valid than the opposite. Fascism is not left or right and can exist in either political direction (or centrist for that matter).

Yeah, I kind of figured that after I asked you to take the test, that this test is a test for measuring the KIND of government you want, and not that you are completely against any governments at all. However, I would think someone who wants NO government at all would have rated MUCH higher on the libertarian side, going into anarchist territory. That means you are one of the extremists, you know that?
