Political Affiliations Tests

Aw, don't be so surprised. I'm authoritarian for your own good.

I'm maybe more traditional than conservative. I'm pretty liberal in some ways, I think that people should be more than tolerant, they should be kind and respectful even to people that are very different or whos ways are difficult to understand.

But I come out almost in the middle overall, doesn't that mean I'm pretty well balanced?

Not to this group. Most are way deep in the lower left quadrant. They want to make centrists out to be raving right-wing mad dogs.

I'm reading a book called "Bias" by Bernard...Goldstern? He has some very interesting things to say about how the left portrays and views their own narrow view as "normal". Also how they label conservatives, but won't label liberals.

I think you can apply that to conservatives as well.

Both sides think they're absolutely right, and that the other side is corrupt/stupid/evil/out to get them etc.

Although the term liberal can be easily mangled and I think conservative can be as well.

For example I've seen liberal applied to PC freaks and free speech nuts (like myself) countless times.

So did xsited1, he was off my mark by half a box.

We should start our own club, or something.

I've agreed with both of you on many things. Disagreed with a few. What does it all mean???

I took the short test too

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 30%.

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal

matters, but tend to support significant government control of the

economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"
to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation

of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations,

defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action

to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

I'd say that's pretty accurate... guess I am a liberal after all.... :eusa_whistle:

I took this one, and I came up with almost the exact same results.

I also took the other one linked, and again, came up with the exact same results.

The short quiz has me more libertarian:

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 100%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 90%.

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and
economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one
that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.
Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose
government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate
diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Yeah, right.
It's not just about Dan Rather. Though I don't think anyone in their right mind would dispute that man's bias.

Funny. I must have been "confused" by the mention of Rather on 72 of the book's 232 pages, including such samples as this.

If CBS News were a prison instead of a journalistic enterprise, three quarters of the producers and 100 percent of the vice presidents would be Dan's bitches.

Sounds like a very stable and nonpartisan individual, Bernie does.

Has anyone thought of what does this mean.

Let me explain quite simply Right/left determine economics and Authoritarian/Libertarian determines social values.

So, someone with a very negative Lib/Author(-7 and less) score and a very left economic score(-7 and less) is probably an Anarcho-communists. I hate to tell you, but I dislike you guys because you are too damn flighty.

On the other hand, someone with a very positive eco score(+7 and higher) and High Authoritarian score(+ 7 and Higher) is a right wing facists. I prefer the Anarcho-commies over you.

Now my score looks almost like Cali-girl except I was on the left side of zero. That is the home of the centrists. Some of you guys like to call it the mushy center because it seems we switch position for no reason. The truth is we switch positions because of the situation we find ourselves in.

During economic booms qnd high times I favor the right--in times of recession I favor the left. I am pro-industry and hope that some of the regulations the Left is proposing are phased in instead of inserted by Decree because you "are saving the world"

I am probably one of the few americans that is pro-bailout/loan and think all this talk about wages is kind of petty. The prevalent question posed to the Senators is this "Is this institution necessary for the nation to protect during recession? For Recovery?" For Both Banks and Auto companies I say yes. I say yes for a couple (but not all) other industries as well.

But to constantly pound away and make decisions based on how much a person is making is stupid and petty, and every Senator that based their vote on the Pay of a CEO or Industry labor makes needs to resign because they are not thinking.

I guess we have to feel a little pain before we wake up.

Libertarian is just a pretty word for Anarchists!!

Ah, but I'm not anti-government, just anti-interfering government, that IS the difference. Certainly not wanting an overthrow, just leave them out of the schools, bedrooms, boardrooms, etc.

Well I guess I'm on the liberal side

The Political Compass

Economic Left/Right: -5.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.85

I find this exasperating somehow. You are less a thinker than a self serving cloud, drifting along wherever the wind takes you.

Ideas matter. Principles matter. Things are good or bad ideas based on principles that we can argue over. I can argue with a socialist because we both have the same goal, but different understandings of how to get there. I can't argue with "what's in it for me?" That is anti politics

I think that is why there is so much conservative agnst right now. Bush Jr shows himself to be a worse bait and switch artist than his dad.
