I hold no affection for Ryan and his feckless position on the social safety net. But let's be clear about one thing. He lost his position as Speaker because he wasn't Crazy enough for the misnamed Freedom Caucus. It's essentially the same reason Boehner retired. He was another feckless dick but he was wise enough to see the Crazy coming and got out. Now the Crazy isn't just confined to the Freedom Caucus. It has consumed the entire POT caucus.

Paul Ryan is the chief architect of the "repeal and replace Obamacare" hoax.

Trump just jumped on that bandwagon.

So there really is no difference between establishment Republicans and MAGA Republicans when you get right down to it.

It is one of the two things I am glad about Trump for. One, he appointed pro-life judges. Two, he laid bare the ripe hypocrisy, lies, spinelessness, and utter immorality of the GOP. Trump's rottenness mirrored the GOP's rot to the core.

The only real difference is that Trump revels in his evil while the GOP establishment thinks they are fooling everyone.

Exploding the debt and deficit with unwarranted tax cuts is nothing to be ‘proud’ of.

Reckless irresponsible deregulation that harms the environment and endangers the safety and lives of working Americans and consumers is nothing to be ‘proud’ of.

Justice ‘reform’ devoid of justice for all is nothing to be ‘proud’ of.

And one should be ashamed, not ‘excited,’ about appointing judges and justice who have contempt for settled, accepted precedent.

The problem isn’t Trump, the problem is conservatism and failed, wrongheaded conservative dogma – regardless the 2024 GOP presidential nominee.
