Can I patent an excel spreadsheet?
Probably not, since excel's already patented. You might try contacting them (Microsoft?) and seeing if they're intersted in your product. DO NOT ACCEPT OR SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY'S ADVICE.
So if I have put together a excel workbook full of VBA's and formulas, I can't patent that? If I can how do I do it?
It is already copyrighted to you in creating it, but you can do it officially.
Patent is another thing entirely.
What do you mean by that?
Copyright and patent are two different things. I suggest Googling both terms for a good definition.
Yes. Consult a patent attorney.
