Gotta give her and her writer credit - this was one of her most substantial and hard-hitting opinion/responses yet...

Now that the American people are calling him out on his lack of engagement with this disaster, the buck-passing is in full swing – and, unbelievably, his administration is still looking to blame his predecessor. Amazingly, even those of us who support energy independence for America are the brunt of some buck-passing.

He suggested today that a “culture of corruption” at the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) was solely the previous administration’s responsibility and that the failure of the inspection system was a failure of that administration. That is false. The MMS has been his responsibility since January 20, 2009.

The MMS director who resigned today, Elizabeth Birnbaum, was appointed by his administration. And the most recent inspection of the oil rig took place a mere 10 days before the explosion – also very much on his watch, not President Bush’s.

...And it’s time for the administration to stop passing the buck and get control of the disaster in the Gulf. There’s a reason why Harry Truman had that famous sign on his desk. The “buck stops” with the occupant of the Oval Office. When the American people elected President Obama they gave him responsibility to handle this disaster. He promised to “heal the earth, and watch the waters recede...” or something far-fetched like that. It was unbelievable then, it’s impossible now, but what I believe he meant was that he promised to be held accountable. With all due respect, Mr. President, you have a huge job in front of you. We hope you’re learning. Please learn that we must have domestic energy development, you must stop looking backward and blaming Bush, and we must all work together to “plug the d#*! hole.”

Come on, no one believes Sarah Palin wrote that.

She's OK at reading off her hand, but whenever she's asked a REALLY difficult question, "What books have you read" or "Name a country in North American" she comes up "blank".

She didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine was and thought Saddam was part of 9/11 all the way up until the Vice Presidential debate.

Hell, her book, "Going Rouge by Lynn Vincent", says, "by Lynn Vincent" for a reason.

Obama isn't the only one who needs to stop passing the buck. In fact, I think most of America needs to do that.

The Teflon Don will eventually have a few things that he can't brush off his back.

Maybe she should get her teaparty groups down there and dig in instead of sitting on her stupid behind attempting to give the president directive.

There's a reason she and McCain lost the election. Everyone knows she has no idea what she's screeching about most times.

How does Palin reconcile this statement with her simplistic "Drill, baby, Drill" mantra during the election?

The Palin energy policy has always been drill for oil regardless of potential environmental risk

There's a reason she and McCain lost the election.

You're right. Palin & McCain didn't promise the greedy what they knew was unobtainable, nor did they have an underground workforce paying and registering (under several different names), the homeless, indigent, uninformed, and dead to vote Democratic.

It's the Bush administration's fault? Oh give me a fucking break. He spews bullshit like the hole spews oil. I am so sick of this guy. When will Barry stop blaming Bush? Apparently never.

Most of the time?????????

She has never really made any policy suggestions beyond, "Drill Baby Drill". She even said she had to work through the Exxon Valdez. How old she when that happened?

Either you have evidence to back that up or you are a LPOS. Which is it?

MMS Director S. Elizabeth Birnbaum Biography

A veteran of the administrations of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Birnbaum became director of MMS in the wake of a 2008 scandal in which former officials had received lavish gifts from oil company executives, as well as sexually cavorted and taken drugs with them.

Who Is Elizabeth Birnbaum?

My feeling is Obama should have put together a "task force" to identify every official appointed by Bush and then have them replaced. Bush was like Midas, only everything Bush touched turned to shit.
The Justice Department, screwing up the CIA, the EPA, OSHA, FEMA, there is nothing that Bush touched that he didn't ruin.

The real question is how many more of these "land mines" are hiding and waiting to go off. Obama is distracted with Bush's major fuck ups, he misses the smaller ones, until they become major disasters. It probably won't be the last one. Republican incompetence runs deep, like cancer.

Rather than attack Obama for why it is taking him so long to clean up the oil companies mess, shouldn't palin be applying a little of that "Buck Stops Here" to her own "Drill Baby, Drill" energy policies and reductions on restrictions on offshore drilling?

And yet . . . . Obama kept her in place. Obama has had 16 months to correct the "MMS's 'culture of corruption' which happened under the previous administration" . . . . and exactly what has he done to correct this?

This mess falls under the Obama administration and his blaming Bush is old, tiresome, and bullshit.

Drill Baby Drill

blames Obama for the Spill

...it wasn't hard to predict that eventually the wingnuts would get around to blaming all of this on Obama. The same crowd that thinks the EPA and FEMA are unconstitutional, and that the government regulates and restricts businesses WAY too much.

The truth is, MMS was doing wrongfully just what conservatives would want them to do legally, i.e., staying off the oil companies' back and NOT over-regulating and over-restricting them.

You conservatives got exactly what you fight for every single day.

...and now you want to blame it on the left?

Want to see my shocked face? lolol

(don't forget, the same EXACT thing happened with the real estate meltdown, remember? Anti-regulation conservatives everywhere trying to blame Democrats for not regulating the industry enough. I pointed out that comical incongruity many a time)

Go Sarah go. I knew BP, Halliburton, Transocean weren't at fault and that the cause of the explosion laid with those anti-environmentalist in Washington and positively had nothing to do with the capping process that was taking place.

Ahh

Now their loss wasn't even their own fault. Bullshit.

Blame Bush and big oil for the disaster, even though Obama and Landrieu have been BP's top receiptiants of campaign money.

Even though Obama has had 16 months to clean up the MMS and did nothing, there is also supposed to be WH memos floating around claiming the administration wanted to downsize the Coast Guards oil clean up.

I blame Obama...

If it wasn't for his insatiable demand for oil to fuel Air Force One for his trips to New York and Copenhagen we would not even have to drill in the Gulf
