Thefts lead WA Walgreens to put Oxycontin in safes - Kansas City Star

Robberies involving the narcotic OxyContin are so common that Walgreens has installed time-delayed safes in its 114 pharmacies across Washington to secure the powerful painkiller.

The drug store chain is investing heavily in the security measure because Oxycontin robberies in the state are the most in the nation for the company, said Robert Elfinger, a Walgreens spokesman in Deerfield, Ill

- we also had one more robbery today and one yesterday here, where most of the thefts are in the state.

Oxi is the number one abused drug in Maine according to our local police chief who spent a lot of time talking to me the day he was busting for growing hemp. (he had to wait four hours in my house waiting for his search warrant...long story...anyway)

I'm also informed that Oxi is the number one drug of killer overdoses nationally.

Basically it's just another synthetic opiate. You see, the drug companies invent these slightly modified synthetic opiate-like drugs once the current ones they're pushing lose their patents.

Essantially they're all the same as the lother synthetic opaite painkillers your doctors give people, but big Pharma needs new patented drugs to hook people on to make the really big bucks, you see?

(this is why opium and heroin are illegal, too, FYI)

Just day NO to proscription drugs, folks.

I think it is number one abused drug here by far.
many people are turning to herion because it is cheaper. Luckly my friend who started doing herion got into treatment soon after starting herion after being on oxy's for almost two years.

consider this....oxies are time released....you overcome that...by crushing the puppies and hitting them or snorting them...

the maker of oxies could put a simple stop to this by simply changing the forumula where you cannot crush and hit them...american drug companies could care less....american drug companies are still exporting huffable glues to south america....gotta love em....

meth is still the #1 abused drugs....not considering smoke.....meth is cheaper and can be home made...i understand oxies cost a pretty penny.

I am pretty sure percription drug abuse over took meth, but I could be wrong.

A few of our CA stores have had armed Oxy robberies recently. We lock all our C2's in a safe.

Oxycontin is a controlled time released version of Percocet without the Tylenol. They problem is that people chew it up so they get the full 40 or 80 mg's all at once.

Opana is a new medication out there. It is oxymorphone.

Apparently, they have a formulation that is a capsule with a gel inside it, so it cannot be crushed or snorted.

Here in my part of the country, they steal Viagra. Cops are on the look out for "hardened criminals"!
