Obama the Loanshark's FBI Raid

well, looks like this thing has legs, serious legs.

Emails: Obama White House Monitored Huge Loan to 'Connected' Firm

The company’s solar panel factory was heralded as a centerpiece of the president’s green energy plan — billed as a way to jump start a promising new industry. And internal emails uncovered by investigators for the House Energy and Commerce Committee that were shared exclusively with ABC News show the Obama administration was keenly monitoring the progress of the loan, even as analysts were voicing serious concerns about the risk involved. “This deal is NOT ready for prime time,” one White House budget analyst wrote in a March 10, 2009 email, nine days before the administration formally announced the loan.

“If you guys think this is a bad idea, I need to unwind the W[est] W[ing] QUICKLY,” wrote Ronald A. Klain, who was chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, in another email sent March 7, 2009. The “West Wing” is the portion of the White House complex that holds the offices of the president and his top staffers. Klain declined comment to ABC News…

Even after Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, analysts in the Energy Department and in the Office of Management and Budget were repeatedly questioning the wisdom of the loan. In one exchange, an Energy official wrote of “a major outstanding issue” — namely, that Solyndra’s numbers showed it would run out of cash in September 2011.

Emails: Obama White House Monitored Huge Loan to 'Connected' Firm - ABC News

and

Solyndra LLC’s workers making solar-power panels in a California factory subsidized by U.S. taxpayers showed “the promise of clean energy isn’t just an article of faith,” President Barack Obama said on a visit to the company in May 2010.

Two months before Obama’s visit, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP warned that Solyndra, the recipient of $535 million in federal loan guarantees, had financial troubles deep enough to “raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern.”

The Obama administration stood by Solyndra through the auditor’s warning, the abandonment of a planned initial public offering and a last-ditch refinancing where taxpayers took a back seat to new investors. That unwavering commitment has come under increasing scrutiny since the company’s travails culminated in its filing for bankruptcy protection on Sept. 6 and a raid on its headquarters by the Federal Bureau of Investigation two days later.

“People including our government put blinders on and did not want to believe in the obvious,” Jonathan Dorsheimer, an analyst in Boston for Canaccord Genuity Inc. of Vancouver, said in an interview with Bloomberg Government. “The fact that the government chose Solyndra as their white horse is mind- boggling.”

Obama was to be a transformative president. He transformed Washington, D.C into Chicago during Prohibition.

hm, Solyndra is not the only stimulus pack company to go bankrupt. Four more have surfaced around the country: Solyndra Not Sole Firm To Hit Rock Bottom Despite Stimulus Funding

The 4 are:

Evergreen Solar Inc., indirectly received $5.3 million through a state grant to open a $450 million facility in 2007 that employed roughly 800 people.

SpectraWatt, based in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., is also a solar cell company that was spun out of Intel in 2008. In June 2009, SpectraWatt received a $500,000 grant from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as part of the stimulus package.

Another winner of stimulus who ultimately lost is Mountain Plaza Inc. Despite declaring bankruptcy in 2003, the company received $424,000 from the Tennessee DOThttp://www.foxnews.com/topics/obamas-national-high-speed-rail-network-plan#r_src=ramp as part of a grant aimed at installing "truck stop electrification" systems that allow idling truckers to plug-in during extended stops and turn off their exhaust-belching, environment polluting diesel engines. Mountain Plaza had filed for bankruptcy protection again in June 2010. TDOT, which received a $2 million stimulus grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for the project, said it didn't learn about the bankruptcy until October, but it is closely monitoring the project.***

Olsen's Crop Service and Olsen's Mills Acquisition Co. also failed despite Olsen's Mills receiving $10 million to increase employment, add equipment and machinery, refinance existing debts and work capital for operations and acquire land. The payout -- part of a $64 million package to nine rural businesses in Wisconsin for economic development loan assistance -- was delivered in January 2010, after Olsen's Mills filed for bankruptcy protection for defaulting on a $60 million bank loan.

Solyndra Aftermath: Obama Padding Stimulus Job Numbers

 • Solyndra claimed that it created over 5000 jobs yet, reportedly, only 14 jobs were actually created at Solyndra

 • Obama administration officials claim that the stimulus program has created something like 3 million jobs. Not true.

 • In short: Obama and the administration are padding the stimulus jobs numbers, doing so openly, and hoping semantics around the word “job” will fool voters.

 • On the official website of the White House which tracks stimulus funding is a widget that states:
recover_jobs_widget.jpg

Note the caveated nomenclature: “number of hours worked in a quarter.” In my books that’s not a job… that’s a project – a gig.

According to their quarterly reports of Solyndra (which you can see on Recover.gov) over the course of 8+ quarters Solyndra reported the following jobs created and stimulus funds paid into the company:

CmRoRAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC

That’s a total of 5143 jobs created over two years. What happened to those jobs?

Here’s the reality. The jobs went to government contractors who provided temporary employment to people they had on staff already or on other projects.

Loans - Award Summary to Solyndra

The above author seems a little negative until you get to the part about the "555,029" figure that turns out to be hours. Then the house of cards falls, and you realize if you divide the hours by the loans, it comes out to be almost $1,000 dollars an hour for the 535 million dollars removed from your child's future to finance this 2-year bankruptcy in a stimulus bill that is beyond the pale..

Not only that, the Federal Government under Obama's care has become a Loan Shark indeed, and the FBI Raid to collect documents and recover money proves it.

When Government starts picking winners and losers by granting preferential loans, tax credits, and using regulatory schemes to punish or reward businesses, there is bound to be fraud, waste and abuse. The Solyndra representative visited the White House 20 times, then suddenly out of nowhere, they get a half a BILLION dollars from the Feds? This stinks to high heaven. Obama is the King of crony capitalism.

All i have to say...is the man is from Chicago.....and the unions.

It sounds par for the course.

Sometimes this thread puts a lump in my throat. It shows us fighting off the forces of too much government taking over every aspect of peoples' lives, which was warned against by our founding fathers.

Of course, it's sticky and a mess when they involve groups in their cleanup who should be doing the work of Homeland Security projects--not collecting for the loanshark a government must become when it tries to do too much taking over of businesses from the private sector. in this case, it did just that.

We ask why is that so bad?

Well, for one thing, Obama's biggest backers are black although some of them are angered at whatever was agreed upon for creating a state friendly to liberals over all other special interest groups.

And as we know, that has created a greater racial divide than anything heretofore. That's the sad but true fact of the whole obama involvement in too much erasure of free enterprise and traditional American values.

It's wrought a lot of group anger on both sides of the aisle. <moment of silence>

According to Republicans on Capitol Hill, General William Shelton, head of Air Force Space Command, told them in a closed session the White House urged him to alter his testimony about the Pentagon's concerns about a new wireless project by a satellite broadband company.

The furore over the issue comes as an increasing number of Democrats, many of whom are concerned about their own re-election prospects, begin to back away from their president.

LightSquared, based in Virginia, is funded by the multi-millionaire Philip Falcone, a frequent donor to Democrats. The satellite and broadband communications company plans to build a nationwide, 4G phone network that many generals believe would seriously hinder the effectiveness of high-precision GPS receiver systems used by the military.

According to officials who spoke to the "Daily Beast" website, Gen Shelton's prepared testimony was leaked in advance to LightSquared. The White House then asked the general to alter it to say that he supported the White House policy to add more broadband for commercial use and that the Pentagon would try to resolve its concerns in tests within 90 days.

"There was an attempt to influence the text of the testimony and to engage LightSquared in the process in order to bias his testimony," Representative Mike Turner, a Republican, told the Daily Beast. "The only people who were involved in the process in preparation for the hearing included the Department of Defence, the White House, and the Office Management and Budget."

FBI agents executed search warrants Thursday morning at the headquarters of California solar firm Solyndra, which received a $535 million loan from the federal government before filing for bankruptcy last week. Source

The firm was publicly touted by Barack Obama, who praised them for their "successes" with green issues. He did not at any time tell the public their $535 million taxpayer dollars being loaned from stimulus funds was being given to a company that had a history of financial problems.

He also sent in the FBI with warrants, which means that other creditors who loaned Solyndra money on the strength of a tout from the bully pulpit will likely not get their money back.

Do you think it's right for the federal government to be in the loanshark business using the FBI to collect?

:cuckoo: First of all this doesn't reach "loan shark" status. This loan was guaranteed by the American taxpayers of this country--and it didn't originate at a very high interest rate--which is what loan shark means.--:cuckoo: In fact it was a low interest rate taxpayer guaranteed loan.

The FBI--is at Soyndra looking for FRAUD--and it looks like it is leading right to the Oval office door. From what we're seeing coming out of the White House through e-mails with this company--it is FRAUD. Every freakin warning of an imminent collapse of this company was IGNORED by Joe Biden and Barack Obama. And we have the e-mails to PROVE IT.

Who's to blame? This administration that KNOWINGLY gave 535 MILLION of our taxpayer dollars to a company that was NOT financially viable to receive the loan--because their financials didn't meet the muster of the loan.

Selling a product for $3.00 per watt--when it costs $6.00 to make is exactly what they did. The Bush administration picked up on this--and denied a loan to Solyndra based on SOUND lending practices--Obama blew of these anaylyst's reports and gave them the money anyway--and they filed bankruptcy--as predicted (before the loan was made) by one analyst who stated Solyndra would be bankrupt in September 2010. We have that e-mail too--going to Joe Bidens desk.

Thanks for a thought-provoking post, Annie. I'd rather not be saying these kinds of things at all, but if I don't, who will point out the obvious to those who refuse to take their heads out of the sand. Barack Obama was worrying me prior to his taking of his Senatorial seat. He used his seat and his church to pour acid all over our nation, and his catchwords all revolved around everything that was militarily decided as Bush's fault, and he's kept that beating up on a dead horse until just recently with no guarantee that won't be his popular drumroll in election 2012.

Pressuring the Air Force General is just one more fly in the already-tainted ointment. I wish they hadn't done it, and saboteuring the military that is our first line of the common defense in its communications does nothing to keep Obama's Oath of Office that he took in January of 2009.

I have to wait 24 hours to rep you for your diligent eye on America's best advisers in the military's freedom of speech to tell the President what they know, not what his paradigm deems they have to say. Thanks again, Annie.

A loan shark is one who makes loans that, if not quickly repaid are met with armed strongmen to collect.

I was right on the money when I noted Obama has sent in armed strongmen to collect a debt.

I'll believe the FBI was looking for White House Fraud when I see the indictment. So far, Obama has had to account for next to nothing he did before, during, and after his election to the highest office in the land.

The America I grew up in claimed everyone in America is equal, whether rich or poor, powerful or powerless, prince or buffoon. I cannot forget what my parents and grandparents taught me about being an American.

Mathematics and finance do not seem to be the Obama Administration's strong suite when it comes to loaning money to people with a history of repayment problems. For that, I'm sorry. If it comes to the light of day that the Administration ushered in special favors for a political benefactor, I'm not certain the leftist media would report it in that light. I've lost confidence in slanted reporting that calls items of non-disclosure conspiracy theory when it suits their wink wink nudge nudge politics.

Containing organized criminals who plan assassinations of noncooperative public officials, serial killers, and other public safety menaces. As I see it since 9/11/2001, al Qaeda criminals must get in only one dirty bomb across our borders to threaten masses of Americans, which seems to be their wont and requires our limit in Homeland Security which now coordinates the efforts of secret services of our nation to insure against such another successful plot.

[/URL]

Reporting from Washington and Los Angeles—
The White House faced mounting political complications as a second top fundraiser for President Obama was linked to a federal loan guarantee program that backed a now-bankrupt Silicon Valley solar energy company, and as two California lawmakers called for investigations of a state tax break granted to the firm.

Steve Spinner, who helped monitor the Energy Department's issuance of $25 billion in government loan guarantees to renewable energy projects, was one of Obama's top fundraisers in 2008 and is raising money for the president's 2012 reelection campaign. Spinner did not have any role in the selection of applicants for the loan program and, in fact, was recused from the decision to grant a $535-million loan guarantee to Solyndra Inc. because his wife's law firm represented the company, administration officials said Friday

Spinner and his lawyer wife whose firm represented Solyndra, Inc. had no role in selection of applicants for the loan program and were neutral therefore? I ain't buyin' that horse puckey.

Not exactly, terrorism has been around for over 3,000 years.

This was in the Chicago Tribune yesterday:

Obama's Solyndra Scandal Wreaks of the Chicago Way

t's the Chicago Way, but instead of a paving or trucking contract, it's a "green" solar panel contract. The company received a $535 million loan. "The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad," according to a Jan. 31 email from an Office of Management and Budget staffer printed in the Washington Post. "If Solyndra defaults down the road, the optics will arguably be worse later than they would be today. … In addition, the timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up."
I love the use of "optics." It's one of those bloodless words finding favor these days.
"Optics" suggests bureaucrats might think in terms of symbolism, political hieroglyphs, in grand vistas, rather than in hard numbers, like the $535,000,000 that went poof.
But it's not their money, is it? It's ours.

You'd think this excuses, excuses column were straight out of the DNC Fuzzy Math playbook as Solyndra chieftains lawyer up and doublespeak 5thAmendment silence for Congress!

Since Obama's spendthrift loansharks ignored the company's desperate situation, you should hear his supporters scrambling for excuses for parting with $535 billion from American taxpayers and pretending HALF A BILLION DOLLAR$ is chump change. Well, maybe it is chump change when fuzzy math is your bag, but it should be the reason we need to let Mr. Obama take a pink slip next November.

Here are the excuses for taking away $535 billion from American taxpayers, give it to Obama's fundraiser companies, not to mention Obama pressing for more money from people making $125,000 a year or more (maybe he may have to lower it down to $40,000 when all is said and done):

Lame Excuse #1: Making Obama account for giving $535 million away is a "phony scandal" to get Republican votes.

Lame Excuse #2: Even though $535 million was turned over to Solyndra, it's not a taxpayer ripoff, because the government has to take risks on some companies since no one else will.

Lame Excuse #3: Since probably no one would ever know $535 had been squandered on this loans, it was the mean Republicans in Congress who held the hearing only to "embarrass the President."

Lame Excuse #4: The lawyers representing Harrison and Stover made them take the 5th Amendment and would be fools to do otherwise.

Lame Excuse #5: The hearings will draw a little bitty amount of blood because of some emails sent from the White House showing President Obama pushing with all his might and main to hasten and get money fast to Solyndra.

Lame Excuse #6: Those capitalist monopolies (all 600 of them) who run coal-powered electrical plants so cheaply are to blame for making life hard on expensive clean energy companies like Solyndra.

Sheeze. I thought monopoly was defined as 1 company having a corner a given market, not 600!!!

Thank you, New York Times for running dumb and dumber save-Obama's-bummer articles in your lower-reader-base-than-ever Conspiracy Theory Rag. The article is at this link, Th' Phony Solyndra Scandal. I guess if you call the government-funded public ripoff of $535 million American taxpayer dollars a phony scandal enough times, voters will consider it true when it has enough glaring omissions and soft-pedaled admissions.

Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison and CFinancialO Bill Stover, who earlier claimed to anyone who'd listen they were misled, had nothing at all to say to Congress. Morons.

Spokesmen for the White House and a Kaiser family foundation that invested in Solyndra have denied Kaiser lobbied for the funds. Solyndra won its award in September 2009, using the backing to construct what it described as a state-of-the art manufacturing facility to increase production of its cylindrical-shaped solar panels and cut costs. The company also attracted more than $1 billion in private financing, including from Kaiser’s foundation.
As Republicans questioned the speechless pair, Democrat Henry Waxman and Dianna DeGette caterwauled about everything fromthe Republicans' daring to ask questions of the lawyered-up squanderers of $535 million taxpayer dollars in a federal stimulus loan, handpicked and red-carpet treated by Obama with OUR money, to the nation not ceding leadership to other nations if it didn't make loans to green energy companies here.

Fuzzy-math Democrats always make it sound like the Republicans did something bad by asking hard questions when people who finance their campaigns so lavishly get red-carpet treatment and federal backup when they back clean-energy companies so that they get paid back first when things go predictably wrong.

Notice that the Republicans asked these bean-brained execs (1) why they lied about the company's condition when the loan was made, (2) had they discussed their peril with the Kaiser foundation folks, and (3) how frequently had they met with the White House administration.

Michigan Congressman, Fred Upton, commented, “We have a great heist of over half a billion dollars and possibly even willing collaborators, maybe even co-conspirators, called the U.S. government,”

I think the Republicans had a right to ask hard questions, and let the criminals omit or admit their knowledge of wrongdoing. That shows the Congressmens' frustration of trying to get some accountability and instead, getting silence as to why they should have $535 million of America's budget to play with when there are so many other places the money could have been spent where Americans would see some benefit back for.
