Obama the Loanshark's FBI Raid

Republicans are Demanding that the President's appointees account for the Vanishing Half Billion Dollars!

"Although numerous red flags indicated that Solyndra was financially troubled and unviable in the global market, the administration went ahead and committed over half-a-billion dollars in taxpayer funds to this company that went bankrupt," Cliff Stearns, Republican chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, said today.

"Furthermore, in restructuring the loan, the administration allowed the private investors to have the 'first out' in case of Solyndra's collapse. Then there is the FBI raid raising the likelihood of criminal activity," he said. "I want to find out what happened to this money and who is responsible for putting these dollars at risk."

He has called a hearing tomorrow at the Rayburn House Office Building where senior officials from the Department of Energy and the Office of Management and Budget who were involved in the loan effort "will testify."

If they don't account, they could get subpoenaed, and it may come to that in some cases.

Is this supposed to be some kind of "Gotcha!!"?

The Bush Admin made the right decision. Solyndra was a bad risk. The Obama Admin pushed the loan for political reasons, and the money was wasted.
This is a worst case scenario. Why couldn't Obama just have had a regular administration? No blaming Bush, race, the Congress or SCOTUS, no bank takeovers, no helping big businesses supporting bambam to wipe out private enterprises, no 5 trillions in new junk to pay supporters, bleh.
"Hope. Change. It's time."

Obama was to be a transformative president. He transformed Washington, D.C into Chicago during Prohibition.

ABC's Brian Ross, who broke the story about the E-mails, was just on O'Reilly....You know it's bad when ABC is allowing their reporter to go on FOX and expose Obama and his administration, who they've been shilling for, the last 3 years.

Yeah, finally one of them realizes how bad it is, and he has to report it elsewhere.

That's a good thing, WJ. Thanks.

When Government starts picking winners and losers by granting preferential loans, tax credits, and using regulatory schemes to punish or reward businesses, there is bound to be fraud, waste and abuse. The Solyndra representative visited the White House 20 times, then suddenly out of nowhere, they get a half a BILLION dollars from the Feds? This stinks to high heaven. Obama is the King of crony capitalism.

Right on.

Obama green-tech program that backed Solyndra struggles to create jobs | PEOPLEUNLIKEUS

President Obama has made “green jobs” a showcase of his recovery plan, vowing to foster new jobs, new technologies and more competitive American industries. But the loan guarantee program came under scrutiny Wednesday from Republicans and Democrats at a House oversight committee hearing about the collapse of Solyndra, a solar-panel maker whose closure could leave taxpayers on the hook for as much as $527 million.

The GOP lawmakers accused the administration of rushing approval of a guarantee of the firm’s project and failing to adequately vet it. “My goodness. We should be reviewing every one of these loan guarantee” projects, said Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).

This is just the first of many. If going green was a profitable venture the private sector would have done it a long, long time ago. The government has no business in the business of anything but protecting the individual and protecting the country, that's their one and only job according to the constitution and they should have stayed right there. They are major F ups when it comes to doing business.

Thanks, Maple.

It's sad when an administration uses up all its capital on one source, and it didn't take long to blow $535 million tax dollars on these airheads. They had all the proof the American people would not see their tax dollars back. They just got caught up in an Al Gorian scheme that wasn't worth the powder to blow it up.

Green companies cannot make a profit, and it's not fair to force taxpayers to prove it to these monumental morons of fiscal impropriety.

I wish it were any other way, but it simply isn't. Your proposal to do good has to be adopted as a beneficial contribution.

For some reason, not all that loaned money could help this company's lead weight of dependency on politicians it bought cheaply for a shot at the American taxpayer's wallet.

We must not allow political payback to dominate the treasury when it benefits so few. That company was not structured for competitiveness in the world and overspent its bounds, because it did not have what it claimed it had, or it snubbed the very people who could have made it go--financial managers from a tried-and-true base to advise it to go or to reduce costs, and then go.

I'm so sorry to see environmental causes go down the sewer, but they absolutely must reach out to those who can help them.

They don't. Instead, they try to control the political process, and all goes down with them when the people they piss on get tired of the stream and just leave.

Obama made a tremendous mistake when he used these people as calendar boys for the Environment and forced the American taxpayers to help them help themselves to our money on the basis of his touchy-feely with political supporters.

This will not change until somebody gets through to the White House it must live within some semblance of constraint, and that the National Treasury must never be used to reward political kiss-asses who not only didn't create jobs, they fired 1100 people when they took the money and ran with the bailers.
