2. A number of aspects are immediate, most notably that the insurance company can't drop you because you get sick, pre-existing condition pool is established, tax credits for businesses, and young people can stay on their parents' policy longer.

There are other sides to this than raising the price at the gas pump, which naturally fluctuates anyways. Investment in R&D is another side; as the technology becomes more efficient, as more of those "rich toodles" invest in these technologies, and other toodles use these technologies, then they would become cheaper than fossil fuels over the long term.

Long-term transition, not a short-term false dichotomy.

I think that private investment will continue to increase if the market gets clear signals of commitment from the government.

I am saying that $8/gal gasoline will destroy the very class of people that Obama purports to care about. Hell, 8$/Gal would put a major hit on anyone. In the big city people might just walk, take a cab, share a ride, ride a bicycle , whatever, but in rural areas, none of those are feasible. my nearest neighbor is 5 miles away. it's a 30 minute drive, well not in the ferrari , to the nearest town. Do the math for me. 20 miles each way one trip to town and one trip back per day 5 days a week in a moderately modern car that get's say 25 mpg that's 20/2 or 40 miles per day X 5 days = 200 miles per week at 25 mpg = 8 gallons of gas at $8 gallon = $64 a week just for gas. And I think we all understand that both of those are ideals. most people make way more trips than that a week, school functions etc etc etc and most poorer people drive cars that get much worse gas mileage than that. So of course the costs go up while we HOPEFULLY design a new power source for a new car that they will never hope to be able to afford b/c a 1/4 of their paycheck a week is going for gasoline.

This bullshit isn't about clean energy its about fucking Obama wanting to make as much green off a gallon of gasoline as he possibly can so that he can finance his grand socialist plan.

On a personal note. Good god man a trip to town in the yellow beast already cost me about $20. I would die if it cost me $80 to drive to town and back .
