Obama - "I need more time"

President Obama is emulating former President George W. Bush’s reelection argument to voters from 2004: Be patient and give me more time.

Bush prevailed by using this argument against Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) when the subject was the Iraq War.

From the OP link.

lol, who the hell hasn't Obama, emulated..the man can't be himself, he's not likable if he is...

Obama's pleas might fall on ears that would listen if he hadnt been squandoring all this time.

The First half of his administration he focused on taking over the health care industry and paying back his contributors with stimulus money. Had instead he focused on addressing the actual problems of our nation with actual solutions, he might have a stronger position to argue for more time.

But he seems more focused on imposing his will on the people and going on vacation. It's a hard sell.

How right you are.....

He has never looked strong. Even his "great speeches" (which I find boring with all his dramatic pauses while he thinks up the next lie or waits for the TP to catch up), he has never come across as a leader.

In fact, he really seems to snivel and that is coming out more and more as he and his fellow snivelers are seeing their second term get the Royal Flush.

President Romney.....sounds so good...doesn't it ?
Both of you are correct and I will add ditto he is not a leader.

That is not going to sell.

I can't believe he has the gall to even ask.

Remember he has Audacity...and he wasnt lying about that.

First...attack Bain...that does not work.
After half the democrats said he was stupid for it, except dean, moonglow and other Obama ass kissers.

Next...attack Romneys term as govenor...that isn't working.
It's MA and noone cares, they had Dukakis for God's sake. Still another failed attempt, except for said Obamabots

Now....plead.
Nah, he's waaay to proud. He'll beg to the far left, that's it.

This man has no sense of honor.
HE's a democrat and a liberal.....they've never heard of the word.

I'd love to kick David Axelrod right in his tiny little balls
Actually I think Carville will do it for you if this goes on

Obama pleads for voters

In a major economic speech in Cleveland Thursday, Obama asserted that it was always going to take time for the U.S. economy to recover after the crisis of 2008.

“This was not your normal recession,” he said. “Throughout history, it has typically taken countries up to 10 years to recover from financial crises of this magnitude. Today, the economies of many European countries still aren’t growing.”

But Obama’s appeal for patience will only make sense if a plurality of voters agree that the nation is moving in the right direction, albeit slowly. If his actions during his first term are instead seen as fundamentally ineffectual, the argument for more time falls apart.

Mitt Romney has been making the case for the prosecution.

In advance of Obama’s Cleveland speech last week, Romney predicted: “It’s ... likely that he’s going to say, ‘Give me four more years, even though I didn’t get it done in the first three-and-a-half.’ ”

In a worrying sign for Obama, even Democrats who spoke to The Hill expressed concern about how much patience the electorate is likely to extend toward him.

“If this is about patience, we lose,” one former senior administration official said. “We have to make this election about how far we’ve come and is the president genuinely giving it everything he’s got.”

Republican strategists, meanwhile, are scathing toward the ‘more time’ argument. They insist voters are well on their way toward deciding, a la Elvis Presley, that they need a little less conversation and a little more action than Obama is offering.

“Needing more time doesn’t move the dial when Americans are feeling that nothing has changed over the past four years,” said Ron Bonjean, a GOP consultant with long experience on Capitol Hill.

But, I thought he had done such a good job. If he has, why is he asking for more time ?

When does the left wake up and realize we could have put a white rat in the White House and gotten better results than what Obama has delivered.

After Jan 2013...he's gonna have lots of time to consider just how badly he's damaged this country and it's governing processes.

Probably because there is an election.

There was ALOT of damage done during the Bush years.

In case you forgot..and I like to remind my friends to the right of this..even with the most powerful military in the world..the command-in-chief managed to let a harebrained scheme of a band of zealots..succeed.

That was over a decade ago. And the damage has NOT been repaired. The WTC is STILL being rebuilt. Seems Bush didn't care at all about it. He also left Obama with 2 wars and the terrorist that authored 9/11 sitting pretty in a mansion in Pakistan. That's along with a crumbling financial infrastructure and an economy that hemorrhaged 800K private sector jobs before he could get anything going.

Well UE has been reversed, most of the financial sector came roaring back, we still have an auto industry, the WTC has real live buildings going up, we are basically out of Iraq and Afghanistan is being wound down.

And what you guys want to bring back..are policies that broke everything in the first place.

No thanks.

Lol agreed I like a buckeye who'd of thunk it. Yeah they really can't be loyal by definition of what they believe. The Dems need to reconstruct their platform within our belief system lol. Eh unless they are all removed from our institutions (appeals courts, education, etc) they will continue to destroy the fabric. Look what 40 years of liberalism in these two institutions have brought us. A regressed society full of scum

Sorry, he had his chance....we don't want to be Transformed in his visions...that means we would all be his slaves and he our master....we don't have any more time for this idiot..

He said he had four years.
His economy still sucks. His time is up. Time for some real change !

There's nothing in Obama's background that would indicate this to be the case. And plenty in Romney's background to indicate that to be the case.

Well not slaves exactly..just low wages and no benefits.

More like indentured servitude from Romney.

well evidently the majority of people don't agree with you or Obama and his Comrades in arms administation

Romney is going to reject the Bush and the Obama ways, and carve his own. Thank heavens.

Yeah, didn't Bush say, don't change horses in the middle of the stream? Worked for him.

Bush might of said something similar, but Bush was liked..... Obama, not so much

so he can beg all he wants, doubt it helps

Well he did say that if he couldn't get it done in one term he didn't deserve another 4 years.

Works for me.

Bush could not have begged for anything in the end without getting a boot in the face.

Time is out. I am not Mormon (sweet Jesus, no, I am not Mormon), but I will vote for the LDS dude without a second's hesitation.

What the GOP needs is a unified message because Romney needs the senate too.

Then we can start to make some things happen.

I am all for raising some taxes on the rich. One dollar raised for every four dollars of real cuts from the Federal Budget. Bring it on.

Reform Social Security....start moving to a semi-private system.

Lots to do.

As far as it goes; I'll second that motion.

If you're going to vote for President Obama--as I am; vote a straight Democratic ticket on the federal level. If you're going to vote for Governor Romney; vote a straight GOP ticket on the federal level.

The days of compromise on great issues is over and done with as long as we have this constitution. Politics rule the day in Washington and both of these political parties are in constant violation of the public trust.

George W Bush wasn't an evil man and neither is Barack Obama. Both have vastly different policy views but both have a vision of the country and a roadmap to get there. As many whom disagreed with Bush's trek disagree with Obama's. But neither one wants us to go off into a ditch; sell our kids into slavery, etc... Partisan hackdom on this site is at an all time high and you shouldn't believe any of it.

Give the President your faith if he has done enough to earn your vote. Give him a Congress to work with.
