Case in point: Obama chose to redact $170,000 in funding for a Minnesota school that opted out of First LadyMichelle Obama’s school lunch program.

Prior Lake High School had to raise lunch prices from $2.45 to $2.95 to make up for the loss, though it stood firm in its decision because Michelle’s program was hurting the kids.

“Under the federal program, the serving sizes did not meet the needs of our students,” Janeen Peterson, the district’s director of food services, explained to reporters.

Because Prior Lake High School exited the program, students are now free to “take the serving sizes they want, free from constraint,” which means that they don’t have to contend with feeling hungry all day anymore

It is utterly irresponsible for them to take it in the first place.

Here is the crux of the problem - income for the government - all levels of government - is largely based on tax income from the people. The states have constitutional authority over some things and the feds over others. That is how a federal system of government works. What the feds have done is usurp the separation of those powers away from the states and to a central authority that is not supposed to have the authority to control those areas.

In this instance they remove money from the state and then return that same money back under restrictions in it used. That is fucking asinine and should not even be legal. The sole reason for this is because the feds DO NOT have constitutional authority to tell the states how to run their local school districts. If they tax all the available money out of the state though and then say they are returning some IF you do thinking their way then they can, in effect, control areas of the state government that they are not constitutionally given power over.

The practice is disgusting and nothing short of extorting money from states and then using that very same money to bribe them.
