"Obama can't run on his record....."

We Need a Second Party
THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
February 11, 2012

WATCHING the Republican Party struggling to agree on a presidential candidate, one wonders whether the G.O.P. shouldn’t just sit this election out — just give 2012 a pass.

You know how in Scrabble sometimes you look at your seven letters and you’ve got only vowels that spell nothing? What do you do? You go back to the pile. You throw your letters back and hope to pick up better ones to work with. That’s what Republican primary voters seem to be doing. They just keep going back to the pile but still coming up with only vowels that spell nothing .....

Until the G.O.P. stops being radical and returns to being conservative, it won’t provide what the country needs most now — competition — competition with Democrats on the issues that will determine whether we thrive in the 21st century. We need to hear conservative fiscal policies, energy policies, immigration policies and public-private partnership concepts — not radical ones. Would somebody please restore our second party? The country is starved for a grown-up debate.

If Obama is going to be such a "push over," why did so many serious Republican presidential "heavyweights" decide to sit this one out in favor of 2016?

If obama could run on his record, he would be doing it. He would be saying look at how bad things were and how much better they are now. He can't do that. What he is saying is that even though the country is much worse now than it was when he took office, none of it is his fault. It's the tsunami, earthquakes, Europe, republicans, oil companies. Then the fall back position, it's BUSH. Bush is the reason for government excess like the GSA scandal and the failures in the secret service. Democrats believe it because they can't admit that obama isn't perfect and that everything he did has been a failure.

Which is it?

Obama can't run on his record or Obama is politicizing killing Osama bin Laden?

The record is sudden death. His only chance is to obfuscate, dance, bob and weave and hope for the best. And then that long lonely last flight back to Chi Town for the Sox fan. Meanwhile, up in Wrigleyville we'll be laughing our asses off.

I see Arianna Huffington is getting even over his joke at her expense at the dinner the other night.

Arianna Huffington: President's bin Laden ad "despicable" - CBS News

She's such a petty individual.

I remember when she was a conservative in love with Newt and then became a liberal when her husband came out of the closet.

A "record" always has good and bad items. Obama has a few checks in the "good" column: Killing Bin Laden, following the Bush plan to exit Iraq. Pretty much all of the rest of his record falls in the "bad" column in my opinion....................

Getting bin Laden is not a record, it's a factoid. And if that's what he's running on, it's a loser.
But it looks like he's running against George W. Bush. Again.
President Obama's 2012 Pitch in Focus: Firewall Against Romney - Yahoo! News

The message: incumbent Obama is a firewall against a return to the "failed" foreign, social and economic policies of the George W. Bush administration, which are now embodied by presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

"Not a record..."

The "Bush plan to exit Iraq" only came about after Obama proposed a 16 month withdrawal in June of 2008.

In other words, the "Bush plan" was originally the "Obama plan".
