Obama Calls Republicans Out Of Touch...At A Solar Plant During A GASOLINE Crisis

What gasoline crisis?

Supply is at an all time high.

Tell that to the 99% who depend on lower gas prices to lower the cost of their 20+ mile one way commute.
Tell that to the 99% who do not want higher gas prices raising the cost of their food, medicine, clothing.

It is not the supply, nor the demand.......it's the impact. Lower gas prices help the economy; not "necissarily higher energy costs" or ephemeral concepts surrounding un- proven alternative energy.

But the 1% are making more money so all is well.
The economy is growing.

Yeah...that President Obama is so out of touch. How dare he talk about reducing our dependency on foreign oil. What a Communist.

So his plan may reduce our dependancy by 10% in 20 or 30 years.

Good plan.

It's like his plan to cut the debt by raising taxes on the rich taking in $46 billion over 10 years when you spend that in a week and your annual deficit is $1.63 trillion annually.

Great plan.

So we give up on solar? and wind? and just go back to the path of an ever increasing dependence on an ever more scarce resource,

oil?

Where do the lower energy prices come from in that plan?

The oil companies don't want lower prices, you know. The oil companies want your dependence on oil/gas to allow them to sell it at the highest price they can squeeze out of you.

Wake up.

No. We don't give up on anything. We are a nation of innovators. If you come up with an economically viable alternative to petroleum, you will be able to find venture capitol and a market without government subsidy.

Of course oil companies want to maximize profit. That's what corporations do. In an unencumbered market, gasoline would be about 2 bucks a gallon, but speculators react to what they perceive future supply will be. A bleak political outlook in the Middle East and South America, unfriendly government policy and government subsidies of unicorn farts, all affect what the energy market thinks the price of oil will be at some point in the future,
A couple of months ago, a gallon of regular was $3.159 here in Foley. Since obama blocked the pipeline and the saber rattling between Israel and Iran with Iran threatening to block the Straightsa of Hormuz, gasoline has gone up to $3.789, or 20%

Here...perhaps I could put this into some perspective for the conservatives here....

Lets pretend it's 100 years ago.

Taft calls Democrats out of touch at an automobile plant during yet ANOTHER "hay is too expensive and there's too much horse-shit in the street" crisis.

Way to think in terms of what you're used to.
Good thing our progenitors aren't as limited as you. We'd still be banging rocks together in caves.

Did Taft throw billions at Henry Ford?

I know. It's terrible

We should make it illegal to make money.

What about Tom Edison, did he get government backed loans??

But you know what?? The both profited from a free enterprise system, those darn elites.........eating up all the money from their hard work.

Our Affirmative Action president just getting warmed up, hitting his stride: C average in polysci at Columbia after flunking out of his first college attempt because of rampant drug use. Harvard Law is in the habit of only accepting students with 3.8 or 3.9 GPAs into its program. But a call from the Chairman of Commonwealth Edison all the way over in Chicago and a large Saudi check written in behalf of the same young man doth have their special charms.

Edison got help from the government..so did Ford.

Link please?? Are you reinventing history now??

Nope. The government used Edison's electric lights on the streets. They also wired homes. The military bought vehicles from Ford.

Cool.

That makes me feel better knowing the price per barrel went down yet the price at the pump climbed 20 cents in 3 weeks.

I'm so happy it costs $60 to fill my tank when last December it cost $38.

That has nothing to do with capacity.
You want me to get ugly???

The price......that's at issue here.....not the availability.

It doesn't matter how much there is if nobody can afford it.

Now it appears you are stretching the truth a little to fit your agenda. Why doesn't that surprise me??

Well, they didn't get any government money for the development of their products did they?? They didn't get government loans, they delivered a product they needed.

You ought to change your little blurb at the bottom of your posts to..."I really am that simple!"

Well you guys seem to forget that Edison was also able to patent the lightbulb..because the US government existed. He wasn't the first to come up with it. Same with Ford and his products.

I live in SW Florida and as I was driving to work this morning the sun brightly and there was a moderately strong breeze blowing off the water. So I thought to myself why not try the solar and wind thing? I'm a staunch conservative, but I'm flexible I'm open to new ideas. I turned off my car's engine.

I got to work late.

Everyone got their egg mcmuffins anyway, so you weren't missed.

So now you are a socialist?

We need an energy policy. We also need more funding for R&D until they come up with a viable renewable energy plan. People will not chose inferior energy. We need way better battery technology to get wind & solar to ever become viable.

But the way to get that technology is to defund R and D, right? You Repubs are do damned dense.
