Well my state of Colorado takes our "balanced budget requirement" very seriously--because they balance our state government budget each and every year.

S&P upgrades Ohio rating after passing a balance budget warns on U.S. debt

Ratings Services upgraded Ohio's debt rating just one day after it put the United States on "creditwatch negative" on what it calls a rising risk of policy stalemate in the debt limit negotiations.

For Ohio, the rating was revised from "negative" to "stable" after Gov. John Kasich signed a new budget the ratings agency says will essentially balance the state's finances for the next two years. S&P also said Ohio is experiencing a modest economic recovery which has stabilized revenue.

In making the upgrade, the agency also assigned a "AA+" long-term rating to Ohio's $416.75 million general obligation bonds​

The budget also preserved $400 million in income tax cuts that went into effect at the start of the year. The 4.2 percent tax break was the last of five that began in 2005 under a tax cut that former Gov. Bob Taft signed into law.

Perry also likes to trumpet that his state balanced its budget in 2009, while keeping billions in its rainy day fund.

But he couldn't have done that without a lot of help from ... guess where? Washington.

Turns out Texas was the state that depended the most on those very stimulus funds to plug nearly 97% of its shortfall for fiscal 2010, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

I really do not understand the rational that raising taxes during a time of glacial economic growth is the correct thing to do. Apparently the Democrats didn't, or a least they never wrote their own damn plan down and support it. Obama, and I know this is going to be hard for some to believe, is not stupid.

He was polling negatively, not the BS polls, but the polls on questions like 'do you want the debt ceiling raised?' or 'is over spending or lack of taxes the reason for the governments debt'.

He himself admitted and said plenty times that raising taxes is not beneficial to economic growth. Then again you can find a contradiction to almost anything the man says.
