Obama admits his failure in Afghanistan

Just stating the facts.

Families of U.S. citizens killed in drone strike file wrongful death lawsuit

The families of the men killed at Benghazi should do the same.

That's gonna go far.

And who are the Benghazi families going to sue? Libyan Militants?

Well, when the Rawstory.com picks up a story, then you never know whats going to happen!

The US government has killed citizens before as collateral damage.

Interesting though how Jameel Jaffir, deputy legal director of the ACLU who attended the White House celebration of Ramadan, should go after Leon Panetta. I wonder if they served a nice pork loin?

Collateral damage is not the same as being targetted.

I wonder if anyone recalls the news about the Soviets leaving Afganistan after 10 years of strenuously attempting to govern the place?

I recall how smug Americans were, watching the last Soviet tank driving across the border back into the USSR....

:eusa_eh:

I guess we're not any better.

Ever hear of Waco? Ruby Ridge?

Police target citizens all the time.

Bomb bomb bomb..bomb bomb Iran.

-John McCain.

True story.

Meanwhile it is Obama dropping predator missile on everyone and everywhere...even on Americans and their children.

Cry me a river.

If one of Anwar al-Awlaki's many schemes to blow up shit in the US would have succeeded, you folks would have been calling for Obama's blood.

Could have had a trial in absentia, not just counted on the CIA telling him whom to kill, that is why there is due process.

Police are different and that was the big contention at Waco and the use of military hardware.

Any way you need to read up on this:

18 USC § 1385 - Use of Army and Air Force as posse comitatus

Current through Pub. L. 112-207. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

So they need to prove the CIA was flying the drone.

Somehow, I think this can be accomplished.

You are right it won't go far because we no longer have a free press.

But let us review. Nixon left office over a two bit break in and the resultant cover up. No on hurt, nothing stolen, and no national security threat.

Clinton gets impeached for lying under Oath.

But Obama kills at least two American citizens without due process and that is to be ignored. The 16 year old boy wasn't even worthy of being on the CIA kill list.

Something is seriously wrong in this country.

You seriously have no idea what Watergate was about.

No really.

It can't.

Hence the reason for militarizing the CIA.

Something which is a bit more serious then the actual drone attacks.

Let me spell it out for you:

There is nothing preventing the CIA or FBI from killing whomever they preceive as a threat, regardless of their citizenship, including US citizens.

Just call him Nixon The ArchAngel.

Yep.

And that's pretty dangerous.

Especially the CIA.

Because it's pretty hard to audit.

I voted for Nixon so I think I might have an idea, me thinks it is you who are confused.

The Watergate scandal was a political scandal that occurred in the United States in the 1970s as a result of the June 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., and the Nixon administration's attempted cover-up of its involvement. The scandal eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, the President of the United States, on August 9, 1974, the only resignation of a U.S. President. The scandal also resulted in the indictment, trial, conviction and incarceration of 43 people, including dozens of Nixon's top administration officials.

This seriously can not be true. Even if it is somewhat true does that mean that the FBI and CIA get to kill whomever they wish????

If that's all you think it was about..then you are the one that is confused.

Nixon started a long slide into the idea of the Unitary Executive. Nixon believed that if a President of the United States engaged in an activity..then that activity was lawful, regardless of what the law might be. He used his power commit "dirty tricks" against his political opponents up to breaking into the DNC and wiretapping their offices. Granted that pales in comparison to Reagan's deal with Iranian terrorists to influence an election or Bush's using false information to invade a country..but the US is loathe to impeach conservatives. No Republican in the history of this country has ever been impeached.

And Nixon's actions basically authored those of Reagan and GW Bush.

Make sure you listen to the video, "ah" seems to be the word Obama likes best.

Obama: U.S. Has Fallen 'Short of the Ideal' in Afghanistan | The Weekly Standard

"So, you know, I think that, have we achieved everything that some might have imagined us achieving in the best of scenarios? Probably not. You know, there's a human enterprise, and you know, you fall short of the ideal," said Obama.

The president went on to say that America has achieved some measure of success in Afghanistan, however. "Did we achieve our central goal? And have we been able, I think, to shape a strong relationship with a responsible Afghan government that is willing to cooperate with us to make sure that it is not a launching pad for future attacks against the United States? We have achieved that goal. We are in the process of achieving that goal. And for that, I think we have to thank our extraordinary military, intelligence and diplomatic teams, as well as the cooperation of the Afghan government and the Afghan people."

Maobama was so cock sure that his "Surge" would work. However, his imposing different and more stringent Rules of Engagement "ROE's" made the "Surge" a failure. He relieved General MacCrystal for being truthful about the narcissim and egomania of Maobama and in doung so has lost Afghanistan. What I don't understand is why doesn't Maobama order out our troops like the Russian did. Maobama failed in Iraq and now in Afghanistan. Now he's calling it "Mission Accomplished". At least Bush had a legitimate reason.

Certainly they can.

However, they're not so stupid as to kill anyone that many would object to killing....

Like JFK.....

No OK from Congress seen; Constitutional issues raised

By Charlie Savage

WASHINGTON - President Bush's plan to forge a long-term agreement with the Iraqi government that could commit the US military to defending Iraq's security would be the first time such a sweeping mutual defense compact has been enacted without congressional approval, according to legal specialists.

**snip**
By contrast, Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki have already agreed that a coming compact will include the United States providing "security assurances and commitments" to Iraq to deter any foreign invasion or internal terrorism by "outlaw groups."

In the course of an arrest, self protection, or a confortation to stop a crime I would agree. But to target someone for execution such as was done to the American citizen and his son, no I don't believe that should be legal or is legal. What separates that from murder? Who makes the CIA or FBI judge, jury and executioner? Is that the world we want to live in?
