NYC School Children Heckled By Adults While Singing “God Bless the USA”

It was a political statement by a Republican candidate for Senate. This was a press conference photo op. A setup. A scheme using kids for political purposes.

We should be shocked some political opponents expressed their thoughts? Really?

They weren't harrassing the kids. They were harrassing the politician.

They were cursing and acting like classless asses in front of children. Really? You are such a partisan asshole that you can't denounce these people?

The only partisans here are those who are misrepresenting the facts. The fact is that it was a political press conference called by a candidate for the US Senate, and it was he the people were angry with, and it was he they were yelling at.


Facts are non-partisan.

It'd be great if the classless lefties involved had the decency to restrain their anger and vitriol until the children were done. But, thats the left in America.

A group of New York City school children were not allowed to sing “God Bless the USA” in school during their Kindergarten graduation ceremony. So, the children went to a playground to sing it where a group of adults heckled them.

Why look, a faked campaign event gone bad. Using kids as political props is a shameful display.

And never mind the fact that the OP is a complete lie, as the kids at the Turner event weren't students at the school.

He shipped them in to protest the fact that the school didn't want to have songs that referred to religion at their graduation ceremony.

These are children singing and there's no excuse for this type of behaviour in front of them. There was a camera crew there, any of these people could have gotten on air and spoken about how shameful they thought the candidate was for using children AS a campaign stunt and probably garnered more sympathy for it. Instead they scream and holler like banshees and children themselves, making a spectacle of something they probably wished would just go away.

Wonderful example to set for those kids. When adults can't bother to show any sort of civil respect for each other, how can we expect our children to?

Bullcrap. You can bet those "concerned" parents didn't have their kids in that group singing. It was all volunteer, and organized by the parents of the kids who wanted their kids to sing the song. They're just upset that after shutting it down at the school, the other parents arranged for their kids to be able to sing the song anyway.

Your source says that the parents approved, and the kids were there voluntarily. Other sources say that Bob Turner showed up at the school as classes were being dismissed with press in tow, and rounded up kids by saying "Don't you want to be on TV?" and handed out flags and lyric sheets.

I assume the truth is somewhere in the middle.

OK, after watching the video and reading EVERY post in the thread I've come to some inescapable conclusions.

1. The schoolkids planned to sing the song at their graduation ceremony but the principal nixed it on the grounds of 'P.C.' (Might offend somebody)
2. The parents of the children organized the singing in the park so that their children could actually accomplish that which they had planned and practiced.
3. The politician was INVITED by the parents to attend.
4. The asshole black man was screaming AT THE CHILDREN that they would burn in Hell.
5. The asshole tat man was screaming incoherently, as far as I could tell.
6. It's very sad to see this kind of rank behavior, and even worse to see it's irrational defense by some members of this board.
