Updated Representative John A. Boehner, soon to be the Speaker of the House, has pledged to fly commercial airlines back to his home district in Ohio. But that does not mean that he will be subjected to the hassles of ordinary passengers, including the controversial security pat-downs.

As he left Washington on Friday, Mr. Boehner headed across the Potomac River to Reagan National Airport, which was bustling with afternoon travelers. But there was no waiting in line for Mr. Boehner, who was escorted around the metal detectors and body scanners, and taken directly to the gate.

I'm surprisingly unconcerned.

I give the orange one props for going commercial. I don't care if he goes through security or not. It would uselessly slow down the security line and has the potential to delay flights even more. He's not a security risk. Well, to the airplane at least.

You mean he didnt assault the TSA? Shocking!!!

Ya cause after all a member of the US House of Representatives is a real threat.

By the way dumb ass, Democrats get the same privileges. As would any senior Government official.

So lets get this right, shall we? He is going to take commercial flights at his own expense and you are complaining being his position in the Government means no sane security guard would suspect him of being a terrorist?

Fucking priceless.

At his own expense? Link?

What right does he have that I don't have? Why am I looked at as a potential terrorist while he is not? Special treatment is special treatment.

No pat downs for LEOs, either.

Shocking.

I would imagine it falls under the same codicil of laws that allow elected reps to blow through traffic laws while congress is in session. The intent behind which was to not slow down the business of government unnecessarily.

Don't worry, Democrats take advantage of it too.

Do they...I remember when Ted Kennedy got hassled on five separate occasions because he was on the no fly list.

Might want to read the law. So if Obama flew coach he should get a pat down too?

You are fucking insane.

On his return trips to DC at the very least due to the law that states a sitting member of congress can not be impeded in anyway while going to Congress for congressional business......

Once again RETARD, no senior Government official gets patted own, from ANY party. ANY democrat that flies commercial gets the EXACT same privilege. Of course that isn't liberal worth news right?

As opposed to Pelosi's travel habits, a breath of fresh air. You need to get out more Ravi. Maybe read a book?

The law applies both parts of the trip if Congress is in session.

Wait lets make this simple, shall we? You are opposed to members of Congress traveling unhindered on commercial aircraft, is that true?

You really aren't this stupid are you? He's a US Congressman.Do you really think he's a threat?....If you want him patted down then I want Michelle and the kids patted down as well...If fact the greatest threat we have against the President is the wife and kids...What protection does the President have while he's sleeping and Michelle is still awake after watching her Beyonce videos....

You really are an idiot. You do this crap for the attention that you need and crave and I just spent way too much time on you.

what do you think the actual savings will be between flying commercial with all his staff and flying private? it's not like they're going to be sitting in coach.

i'm not big on meaningless symbols... and it's all well and good that he never took "earmarks".. what percentage of our budge is comprised of earmarks? something negligible?

again.. .more meaningless symbolism... but it means he never did anything for his constituents.

Savings is probably a few thousand dollars per trip. Over the course of the next two years, that could be quite a bit.

And earmarks, I'm glad he works on cutting them. A few billion here, a few billion there...all of a sudden you're talking about real money.
