NH Democratic Party religiously intolerant, bigoted

The head of a pro-family political group in New Hampshire accused the New Hampshire Democratic Party of “religious intolerance” on Thursday for criticizing a Christian state legislator for conducting what it called “a religious tirade” as a Christian gathering in September.

Democratic spokeswoman Harrell Kirstien accused Republican State Rep. David Bates of attempting to impose a “Bible belt social agenda” after video surfaced of Bates saying “the only hope for America” is to “turn from our wicked ways and ask god to heal our land” and “the problem we have here in this country and in all of our states is that we no longer fear god” at New England Solemn Assembly in Plymouth Massachusetts.

Now Kevin Smith, head of Cornerstone Policy Research, is calling on the Democratic Party to apologize for the attack.

“The NHDP’s mischaracterization of Representative Bates’ faith are not only rooted in religious bigotry, but represents the height of hypocrisy for a party that supposedly prides itself in being tolerant of other’s beliefs,” Smith said. “ The NHDP owes Rep. Bates and the hundreds of thousands of Christians in this state an apology for his truly offensive and ignorant remarks.”

So the chairman was calling out a guy for being intolerant to people who are not christian or do not fear god, and you are saying the chairman is intolerant to other people's religion?
This man was blaming our problems on not being christian enough, get a clue.

You realize that #1 and #3 are the same, right?

Religious people understand and respect other religious people, no matter what their religion. Non-religious people have no respect for anyone.

Hahahahahaha. History kinda proves that wrong doesn't it?

Hahaha. Don;t know much, do you?

Yeah, because it was non christians who protested the muslim community center in New York City or planned to burn Qurans. :cuckoo:

Hahaha. Don;t know much, do you?

I know history proves that nonesense like "religious people have been tolerant of other religions". Hell look at how the rabid righties treat Muslim here on this board.

You don't know shit, junior. Let's just leave it at that.

ROTF. My oh my you are a tollerant one aren't you? But, ah no, I'm not going to leave it at that. It is fucking stupid to think that, it was a stupid thing to write, and history has ton and ton of examples of religious intollerance to back me up.

He never directly attacked any one faith or lack thereof, even tho Lord knows there's enough ammo to. So NO.
Which god do you think this guy wants us to turn to? Allah? Ra? Yahweh? Zeus?

One is Hebrew, and the other is Muslim.
But whatever.

Do you have a problem with people turning from their wicked ways or, a problem with a leader of Christians telling Christians to ask the Lord to "heal our land", or a problem with the statement that 'we' (as a nation) no longer fear G*d (I thought that was what all those other groups wanted, for us "not" to fear G*d)?

Depends on what ways he considers "Wicked" If he means murder, rape and general mayham then okay no problem, if he mean being tollerant of Gays and their lifestyle then no he can kiss my rosey red ass. I also don't want elected official relying on supernatural being to fix the problems we have caused or inherited. I want someone who is going to look for down to earth solutions. I'm glad many in this nation no longer fear a make believe creature. But I think this guy see's it a different way than I do.

He can only use terms the are "acceptable" to you??? Do you want someone that can go into a state of peace to be able to think clearly? Do you think calm and peace orgininate in the doings of men? Are you offended when children believe in Santa? Easter Bunny? Great Pumpkin? Peace on earth? Are you saying that politicians are only allow to say things and "think" the way you do????

If that is your criteria, I should be able to clean out DC.... cause they sure don't think the way I do. You must be a tolerant, non-conservative.

Geez are you ignorant. It is nothing short of laughable. Hint: Not everything is in Wiki. Hint 2: It helps to know something before quoting it.

What kind of religion is "Hebrew"?

This guy was talking religion, to religious people, @ a religiously themed event. I believe we've turned too far away from God too, just differ with Bates on what, and how we should turn back.

Again, he never directly attacked any one faith, or lack thereof directly, but the NHDP just can't resist an opportunity to attack real, devout Christians......

Sounds to me like a spade got called a spade here.

No of course not. He has the freedom to say whatever he wants, however using terms like "Wicked Ways" could have multiple meanings and I would like further clarification. I want someone who can think clearly at all times and not rely on an invisible friend or a modern day interpretation of Ancient manuscripts for support and/or justification. I would be offended (well not offended but slightly amused) if an adult believes in Santa Claus.....

I want them to speak their minds, that way we can make our own opinions of their words mean.

Hypersensitivity and political correctness run amok...

...it's not just for democrats anymore.

true story
