New York is waking up !!!

i'm curious, where was the outrage when the new york times used eminent domain to drive out families and generational businesses for their manhattan corporate office.

Hmmm. So....they don't want WalMart's jobs to come there. Ok. They don't want WalMarts low prices to come there. Hmm.

Here is the kicker. If WalMart were to show up.....and all those people simply didn't shop at WalMart...but chose the small businesses instead....then WalMart would close.

But if WalMart does come, the reality is that all those people who are outraged would eventually start shopping at WalMart also.

War on WalMart?

Fucking priceless. It just never ends with you guys...

Well Walmart is the conservative paradise. According to the that report it generates like 400 billion dollars in income, yearly, and the average salary of it's workers are around 14K. That makes many of them qualify for welfare..or some other type of public assistance. Walmart use to give their employees information of how to apply for government healthcare. So sure..seems like a good deal. Plant a Walmart in a Manhattan neighborhood. Kill several thousands jobs. Generate several hundred jobs with no benefits. Gum up our generous social programs. All to make the Waltons the some of the richest people on earth.

Yeppers.

Then Conservatives can yammer on about all the lazy people getting "Gubmint cheese". It's a win-win.

I'm waiting for the "War on War".

Somehow, I'm suprised libs haven't gone for that yet.

There were protests across the Country against the invasion of Iraq. One in NYC had some 250K people..and they went on for weeks. The "MSM" barely covered it. But a few disgruntled SSI ham and eggers show up to town hall meetings and yammer at Liberal politicians about "spending"..and damnnnn...that be HOT NEWS!

people don't realise it, but the money that is saved at walmart gets shopped around at the mom and pops.
thus, denying walmart, is to rob the small local merchant, the poor tiny little fella that stands all alone, on a dusty, deserted, cold and ever so dark and mean mainstreet u.s.a.; that is now forever enshadowed by the big bad american industry, run by meanies. and maybe a few jobs

BTW i don't think much of your flags, try to incite, that's pretty serious business to a lot of vets and citizens that carried the american flag into battle, so you could post what you want.

you'll find it's not worth the price, to try to seek that type of attention.
i'm surprised that the mods haven't yanked it.

Good point, Buc....

And Walter Williams is behind you.

"And,Why is Wal-Mart so successful? Millions of people voluntarily enter their stores and part with their money in exchange for Wal-Mart's products and services. In order for that to happen, Wal-Mart and millions of other profit-motivated businesses must please people.

Compare our level of satisfaction with the services of those "in it just for the money and profits" to those in it to serve the public as opposed to earning profits.
A major non-profit service provider is the public education establishment that delivers primary and secondary education at nearly a trillion-dollar annual cost. Public education is a major source of complaints about poor services that in many cases constitute nothing less than gross fraud.

The ruthlessness of the market discipline, which forces firms to please customers and thereby earn profits, goes a long way toward explaining hostility toward free market capitalism."

1. The diverse group of self-identified liberals are better educated than the country as a whole, less religious, more urban, less married and wealthier. They support abortion and gay rights, are unconcerned about pornography, and rarely own guns. Edsall, “ Building Red America,” p. 18.

a. The group frequently finds themselves in disagreement with white, working-class voters, as outlined in the Pew survey of 2007, “Trends in Political Values.” One example: two-thirds of working-class Democrats have a favorable view of Wal-Mart, while a majority of professional-class Democrats consider it to be something akin to evil incarnate. What's stopping Walmart workers from unionizing?

If they did unionize, how would that affect the low prices of Walmart, and, in turn, affect the workers jobs?

Just askin'.

Yea we sure will miss all those tacky Pakistani,Indian,Iranian shop owners ripping us off with their stolen knock-off goods. Oh my,how could this happen? All is now lost! Seriously though,Walmart will be a huge step up for New Yorkers. This "War" is being waged by partisan political hacks. It has nothing to do with reality. Get a life kooks. SHEESH!

Are they being forced to work there? If not then they are free to go look for work somewhere else. When you are offered a job and accept it, you accept it on the terms that it was offered. You cannot accept the job and then turn around and expect to have rights to something that was not offered to begin with.

The liberal mind is a scary thing. :D

Oh, and looky what we have here!!!!! Turns out the first lady herself is also in cahoots with Walmart, isn't this crazy? I thought you liberals hated walmart, and here we find out one former first lady was on the board of directors, and another one is snuggling up to them currently to forever be an intrusion into our daily lives!!! Wow!!!! *sarcasm.

Then tell all the lower-middle class to lower class people to stop taking advantage of their very competitive pricing. yeah, that's it, screw WalMart, I'm gonna seek out higher priced alternatives!

You've gotta be fucking kidding me.
