Mitt Romney 'formally not invited' to CPAC after impeachment vote on witnesses

After a while it just seems juvenile. Plenty of people seem able to discuss issues without resorting to that.

And yet I've never seen you once comment on the names people created for Trump and his supporters.

I don't tend to get into conversations with them like I am with you. Wading through the childish insults on names gets old and makes me not want to take anything you say seriously.

They are tied but not synonymous. For example - your caveat, providing those jobs pay enough.

Usually when the economy is doing very well like now, pay follows. But there were bad paying jobs 30 years ago, there are bad paying jobs now, and there will be bad paying jobs 30 years from today. However the ability for people to move out of those jobs and get better ones is what's key for a good economy. [/quote]

It's not just "bad paying jobs" - it's a transition in the type of jobs we are getting now.

Hussein (there, better?) had job creation, just not very well paying jobs, or part time jobs. His 50 employee rule before being subject to commie care fines prevented growing companies from expanding their full-time workforce. They either hired two part-time people instead of one full-time, insourced products, or hired foreigners who didn't count as American employees. That impacted the economy.

You could call him Obama. Does that really cause you such agony? I admit, I despise Trump but hey - I can call him Trump, not Tramp. Not Drumpf.

Obama, unlike Trump, started his presidency in the worst economic circumstances since the Great Depression. I'm not sure how much of the job creation had to do with that or healthcare. Speaking of which - how is healthcare doing under Trump? His changes to Medicaid? What's the rate of insured and underinsured?

Hiring foreigners - can you show that trend changed under Obama? It's a long standing trend - if we (Americans) can supply the labor that is either skilled or, willing to do low paying farm work - then there is a market out there ready to fill it.

And if they've lost the markets they've spent time developing?

I don't know that they did. Why would the Agriculture department predict record exports if that was a problem?

Hard to say - but one of the big complaints from farmers was they spent years developing markets and the tariffs were impacting that. We may have a ton of exports - barring climatic crop failures - do we have the markets?

Mitt Romney 'formally not invited' to CPAC after impeachment vote on witnesses

The chairman of CPAC announced that Utah Sen. Mitt Romney is "formally not invited" to the conservative group's annual conference this year.

Matt Schlapp, the head of the American Conservative Union, said Romney is not allowed at the event after the Utah Republican voted in favor of summoning witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. Romney was one of two Republicans who joined 47 Democrats in supporting the motion, which failed to pass on Friday.

"BREAKING: The 'extreme conservative' and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020," Schlapp wrote in a tweet, which featured a photo of a troubled-looking Romney.

This jackass is actually going to be responsible for the very first federal recall law......

There is no room for traditional Republicans in the new Republican Party, which is clearly the party of Trump.
MITT IS A RADICAL SUBVERSIVE PINKO HITLER STALIN NAZI FASCIST COMMIE I TELL YOU
.

The funny thing is...when Romney was running, I didn't vote for him but I'd have been happy with him.

He has integrity, a decent character, a respect for our country and it's institutions. I can live with that.

And your side did nothing but bash him over his business dealings.

What did you see that they didn't ?

I mean, could they have been full of shit ?

Interesting that both failed Presidential candidates McCain and Romney turned on President Trump. Jealous much?

At least McCain had a reason. With Romney, it think it's just there is a guy with more money than him that accomplished more in the political arena than him.

The state houses can recall Senators at any time they wish....The 17th Amendment didn't nullify that power.

As I said the other day Romney should make it official and switch parties to Democrat then moved his useless ass to California because the mormons won't have him anymore. San Fagcisco would better suit the asshole where there'll be more of his kind around like Pelosi, Harris etc. Or maybe LA where he can hob-nob with Baggy Lips Waters and Schiff for brains.

I'd say he's more of an Independent these days. He still believes in the traditional republican platform which the trump republicans no longer believe in.

There is no room for traditional Republicans in the new Republican Party, which is clearly the party of Trump.

Traditional Republicans like Mitt Romney are pathetic Losers. There is really little room for someone seeking defeat and wanting to stand aside to allow socialism and anarchism to rule.

So, unless a Loser like Romney wants to shed his traditional defeatism, there really isn't any room for him.

 well at least your honest. The Republican party of Trump prefers thugs, bullies, liars and scoundrels over principled conservatives.

You don't get it.

If you're a Pathetic Loser, it really doesn't matter what your platform says as you aren't going to get a chance to implement it anyhow.

Little point in even composing or debating such a platform.

It's not just "bad paying jobs" - it's a transition in the type of jobs we are getting now.

It's more than that. We have a huge drug problem in this country. Better paying jobs drug screen, and many employers I've talked with stated the reason they couldn't find workers is because of drug usage.

People that tell me pot is not addicting are kidding themselves. People would rather have their pot than a job or possibly a career. If it was a choice for them, I'm sure they'd choose a better paying job that wold provide them with a more stable income.

The point I'm making is that the 50 employee limit was an additional reason to hire immigrants, and perhaps some for the first time.

Hussein had the slowest recover since WWII. He stated it was just something we were going to have to get used to. He laughed at Trump's claims of a better economy asking if Trump had a magic wand? Well guess what? Trump did have a magic wand apparently.

I've had employer sponsored healthcare my entire adult life, and I have several preexisting conditions. When DumBama invaded our country with Commie Care, I lost that coverage for the first time in my life. The plans were awful, and to get a terrible plan that barely covered my care at the Cleveland Clinic, they wanted about one-third of my take home pay. So my hatred of him isn't because of tweets or arrogance. He had a major negative impact on my life, and if he fell down a flight of stairs today and killed himself, I would say that was God getting even for what he did to me and millions like myself. So if I hope you can understand my utter hatred for him, and calling him names.

I can't disagree with you on that, and certainly in my area it's a huge problem. No easy fixes. I don't know if pot is addicting or not or if it affects employment rates, but my view on it is it's no worse than nicotine or alcohol, and less damaging than meth and opioids. I'd just as soon spend money going after those drugs AND the marketing of any of this stuff to minors.

Can you link to something that makes that correlation?

Hussein had the slowest recover since WWII. He stated it was just something we were going to have to get used to. He laughed at Trump's claims of a better economy asking if Trump had a magic wand? Well guess what? Trump did have a magic wand apparently.

He also had the WORST financial crisis since then as well. The worst since the Great Depression, so what are you comparing it to? The Great Depression? Or other more minor economic crisis?

The thing is, Trump didn't have a magic wand. He just stepped in at the right time. The growth rate did not increase under Trump in fact it actually decreased, but the economy had reached a healthy status so that didn't matter. So what magic wand? The magic wand of being there at a time when the economy reached a good point and as that happened, people were feeling the benefits.

I've had employer sponsored healthcare my entire adult life, and I have several preexisting conditions. When DumBama invaded our country with Commie Care, I lost that coverage for the first time in my life. So if I hope you can understand my utter hatred for him, and calling him names.

I can understand because you were directly affected in a negative way, I just wish you wouldn't resort to name calling but c'este la vie. In my state, the opposite occurred. Many people who did not have access to health care, especially preventive health care now did and the difference was huge. For me personally nothing really changed. I have employer sponsored healthcare, the increased costs still increased last the same rate as pre-ACA. However, my husband got expanded medicaid, which covered most of his hospitalization and treatment bills this summer that my insurance wouldn't have covered. So I can't complain in how it effected us.

Hard to say - but one of the big complaints from farmers was they spent years developing markets and the tariffs were impacting that. We may have a ton of exports - barring climatic crop failures - do we have the markets?

Yes, I think we do.

Which "they" are you talking about?

Article I, Section 3, Clauses 1 and 2

“The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.”

“Immediately after they shall be assembled in Consequence of the first Election, they shall be divided as equally as may be into three Classes. The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies.”

Nothing in there prohibiting the state legislatures from recalling them.

Amendment XVII reads:

“The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.”

No prohibition of recall in there either.

Romney is a far weaker and petty man than I ever realized in 2012. Had I known then what I know now, I would have left the Presidential line blank in 2012.

I don't like Republican weasels anymore than I like Barack Obama.
