When George Bush flew onto an aircraft carrier to proclaim "Mission Accomplished" for removing Saddam Hussein from power, the left screamed, b*tched, and moaned that the mission was by no means accomplished because our troops were still in Iraq. They blasted Bush for excessive celebration while our soldiers were still being killed in a country we no longer needed to be in...and, in my opinion, rightfully so.

However, here we are a decade later and the same left are on here defending a similar action, but this time by Obama. Obama flies into Afghanistan to celebrate the one year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden (only difference between the two incidents being there wasn't a banner). To the left now, this is acceptable and encouraged. We are told this is not a double standard (aka hypocrisy)...well, the mission obviously isn't accomplished this time either...you know, since our troops are still in harms way, just in a different country.

We were told by Candidate Obama that our troops would be home by now...it's another promise Obama made that he has unapologetically broken. Yet, for all the promises that Obama has failed to deliver on, the left still celebrate him as the second coming of a messiah. Sad.

Mission Accomplished referred to the men on that ship who had completed their mission and were heading home.

In hindsight, it looks like what the democrats are most furious about is that Bush praised the actual men and women who had completed a successful mission. How DARE Bush tell these people they had done a good job.

Bush was dressed in a flight suit because he had piloted the plane. Pilots wear flight suits don't they? What drives the left insane is that the flight suit is unavoidably associated with President Bush, and obama's "uniform" is golf shorts.

When Bush did his little Mission Accomplished idiocy, Iraq was far from pacified, in fact, we lost over 4000 American Servicemen and womens lives after his little show. And Bin Laden had escaped into Pakistan. The mission was not accomplished, and the results, by what we see in Iraq today, hardly qualify as a success.

You are being deliberately dense. You must be a democrat. The USS Abraham Lincoln had completed their mission and the ship was heading home. The banner stating "Mission Accomplished" was a focal point of controversy and criticism. Navy Commander and Pentagon spokesman Conrad Chun said the banner referred specifically to the aircraft carrier's 10-month deployment (which was the longest deployment of a carrier since the Vietnam War) and not the war itself, saying "It truly did signify a mission accomplished for the crew."

Why don't democrats permit praise for the military in doing a job well done? The crew of the Abraham Lincoln did accomplish their mission.

Ah...but you're idea of what was meant by "Mission Accomplished" and the real meaning behind it are two different things. Riddle me this...did Bush, in that speech, say that we had won the Iraq war and would be bringing our troops home? Go listen to the speech, you can find it and the text, if you would prefer to read it, with a simple Google search. Remove and paste back into this thread where he said we were done in Iraq...we'll wait.

    .

Bush's spectacle was, of course, a national embarrassment.

Obama had better be careful with what he and his surrogates say from here on in.

See, it's okay for liberals to take things out of context to spin it into a web of what they would like it to be...the only time it's not okay is if someone on the right tries the same. They think they have a patent on doing that.

    You're an idiot.

The Mission Accomplished banner was brought by the whitehouse for Bush's obscene display on the carrier.

Obama went to Afghanistan at the request of the Afghan government to sign the agreement they've reached.

A draft dodger posing in a flight suit to take credit for an unfinished mission is probably the most repugnant display any American president has made in recent memory.
