I don't think any of those incidents resulted in any sort of regime change in the United States. One of the attacks failed before it could be carried out and another was perpetrated by the Empire of Japan nearly 70 years ago... I'd say none of it quite measures up to Afghanistan.

One of the accused, Corporal Jeremy Morlock, 22, confessed to the murders three months ago. Morlock is scheduled to face a general court-martial on Thursday. In total, 12 US soldiers who were allegedly part of what has been described as a "kill team" in Afghanistan are expected to go on trial soon.

In a second incident on Feb. 22, 2010, one of the members of the "kill team" who had been carrying an old Russian Kalashnikov, fired it before pulling out another gun and shooting 22-year-old Afghan Marach Agha. The 12 men are also facing further charges of desecration of corpses, illegal possession of photos of corpses, drug abuse and acts of bodily injury against comrades.

There are animals like this in all walks of life. Unfortunately, in this instance the implications of their disgusting and inexcusable behaviour will impact heavily on those in theatre. Life for those serving in Afghanistan, both military and civilian, just got even more dangerous. That some would defend or excuse these animals is beyond comprehension!

A man hired to provide security at a military base in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, attacked a group of soldiers over the weekend, killing two and wounding four others, NBC News has learned.

The man, named Shir Ahmad, worked for Tundra Security Group and had been hired March 9 to provide security at Forward Operating Base Frontenac in Argandab Valley. Ten days later, on Saturday, he allegedly walked up to a group of soldiers who were cleaning their weapons before a combat patrol and opened fire with an AK-47.



Three other U.S. soldiers responded to the gunshots and returned fire and killed Ahmad, but not before he shot six soldiers, officials told NBC News.

Two of the soldiers, 29-year-old Cpl. Donald R. Mickler Jr. of Bucyrus, Ohio, and 19-year-old Pfc. Rudy A. Acosta, of Canyon Country, Calif., were killed.

It's time for member-countries of NATO who are in Afghanistan to help the Afghanis to seperate in command structure from those members who aren't there for the same reasons.
These are just stories actually having been uncovered, i believe there is a lot of other shit going on in the 'grey-zone'.
Look at Libya, some NATO members have completely departed from a Humanist agenda, all they know is simply 'duke nuke'em'.

I have to agree with you here. To us, 9/11 and Pearl Harbor are major disasters and we use them as our "rallying cry". They were definitely tragedies and acts of war, but people in Afghanistan and Iraq face a much larger scale of assault than we ever have and they do it on a daily basis.

The US has never (and may it never) face an occupying force. If we ever do, I would hope that we would fight with the same heart and conviction that we face in Afghanistan and Iraq.

There are animals like this in all walks of life. Unfortunately, in this instance the implications of their disgusting and inexcusable behaviour will impact heavily on those in theatre. Life for those serving in Afghanistan, both military and civilian, just got even more dangerous. That some would defend or excuse these animals is beyond comprehension!

Well said. I only looked at it from my perspective here packed away relatively safe and sound in the U.S. I had not even considered the danger it placed upon soldiers in country.

Yep.

For the most part, the US military is one of the most humantarian in history. But it's a large miltary. A few bad apples reflect badly on the whole.

I believe it. However, to the Arab people our form of government does not represent freedom. They don't really know what we are about. Remember, we are the "Great Satan". Their propaganda machines are just as effective as our own.
