I don't know about the Somalis all over Maine. I know people in Lewiston and they are not glowing at all. The Somalis have made life almost unbearable. Gangs of Somali young men assault and rob people on the street with impunity. Older people are all but hostages in their own homes. Reported crime is low. Within the Somali community it is close to zero.

Some years ago, the police agreed that petty crimes and random assaults would not be reported at all. A panel of Somali elders would deal with crimes perpetrated by their young men. If an American defended himself agsinst a somali attack, that would be reported.

Nope. A Republican governor was aided not by a Democratic Party org but by the Klan. As also happened in Indiana and Colorado, defeating Democrats to get there. And it did so by fomenting hate against immigrants, labor unions, Catholics and Jews -- all of which are Democratic Party constituents.

But the Klan worked in politically negative ways too, like helping to remove Walton from the governorship of Oklahoma for trying to drive them out after the Tulsa race riots, and rallying opposition to Senator Underwood, their most vocal denouncer. Oh wait, they were Democrats.

And as I just posted in my other thread, the Klan's actual ideological forebears, the Know Nothing Party, did the same thing inciting riots in Louisville and Baltimore, again visiting violence upon their opposition -- the Democrats.
