Lost power, tree fell.

When I lived in San Diego they charged 9 cent per kw/hr back in the 80s.
I don't know how much it is now, but SDG&E (San Diego Gouge & Extortion) was putting in for rate increases every 6 months. Every single time they made a bad investment they passed the loss onto us consumers.
Same with Southern Companies. Kemper plant clean coal try cost 5 to 6 billion. Failed Got shut down. Took court orders to stop that failure on to the public.

We never lost power in Massachusetts, our power, phone and fiber optics were all underground!

We have e everything on poles up here, with 3 miles of nothing but trees to knock them down, before hitting our Cottage.

It's beautiful, more deer and bear and moose than people,

BUT luxuries like a good internet service and electricity that stays on, or any kind of food delivery are lacking....even the closest Wal-Mart is 25 miles.
Wow. You live almost off the grid. But I hear you. There are trade offs for how and where we choose to live. I'm happy we live in a country where we have such great choices. :)

Well you'd better get an EV and that'll come to a screeching halt in little or no time.
We rented a hybrid on the way home from florida, a humongous minivan, Where it was gas and electric, running on gas, charged the electric...it was awesome! No plugs needed! It cost around a hundred bucks in gasoline to get from central florida, to Maine! I think it was a Toyota Sienna?

There's nothing wrong with a hybrid. Frankly I think they're a great idea. I drove one down to Nashville one time to go to a class when I was working at Ft Campbell. I kind of liked it.
An EV is a different situation.

Not for long.

If they keep putting in their green energy policies you won't have cars, air-conditioning, gas stoves, pets neither cats or dogs, private bank accounts, or any other thing you think is nice about living in America. They plan on replacing us with folks that are used to living in a 3rd world country shithole.

Sometimes it looks that way. And I believe all Americans should look past the propaganda and manufactured information and inform themselves on what is actually happening. But I'm not ready yet to say the whole country has gone to hell in a hand basket. There are still pockets of sanity and normalcy to be found. I think Care might live in one of those.

We cannot stand by and allow these tyrants to roll over us.
The longer they're allowed free-reign they will continue to encroach on our freedoms....eventually leaving us with nothing.

By then it will be too late.

We have to get serious before it becomes completely out of hand and next to impossible to reverse.

Socialism becomes law of the land thru the ballot box.....and thrown out of power by a hail of gunfire.

If you are suggesting armed insurrection, I strongly encourage you to change your mind about that quickly. All that would accomplish is exchange a very bad, corrupt, dishonest, totalitarian minded government for a worse one.

And I really think we are on the wrong thread to be discussing this. A power outage in Maine is hardly a reason to take up arms.

Look dude, you have two choices when your government becomes a dictatorship.
  1. Give in and do what you're told
  2. Fight to take your country back
Most people are the type to go along with Nazis and Communists.
Only a silly fuck thinks that standing by meekly and allowing it to get that point is an option.
America hasn't gotten to the point were an insurrection is warranted, but when it does, you'll know it.
But usually by then you won't have the option.

You are still on the wrong thread to be pushing this. I am sorry you have such a low opinion of me or think I am 'meek' about much of anything but oh well. I can't help what you think.

But if you think an armed insurrection would produce a better government than what we have now, I don't see it given the very extreme views and proposed methodology of those who would most likely lead it and assume power when it was accomplished.

In order to accomplish a successful outcome to a Revolution you have to do it as the Americans of the Revolution did it. Come to an agreement of what the goals will be and be careful to have a new government structure in place and ready to go when the other side surrenders. We are nowhere near that agreement or have even begun to think through all that.

We would be like the noble Bolsheviks overthrowing the evil Tzars only to create a worse devil than the one we threw out.

Stop being a Drama Queen. I mentioned the end game of green energy policies that any Democrat would tell you is true if they were being honest to us.

And stop clutching pearls over something that patriots and brave men and women have had to do for thousands of years to end oppression. If this weren't the case, Rome would still be in power.

I've been alive for 66 years....and this country has gone from defending itself and defending it's freedoms to selling us out to the Chinese and the Russians. Both of which would have sent me to Leavenworth prison for the rest of my life if I had pulled that crap when I was in the military.

I don't need a lecture from anyone on how to act.

Getting a whole house setup is just a transfer switch on the main. Not that hard.

22kw about 8 k to10 k installed down in LA. Lower Alabama
I got a free transfer switch from PG&E last year. It hooks right into the new meters. There's a plug in just under the meter. 20 ft cord with a couple of breakers too. When grid power goes down, you shut off your main, plug in the cord to your meter and generator, fire up generator and turn the main back on. It automatically cuts you off from the grid and when power is restored it automatically cuts off the generator feed. You then just manually shut off your generator.
