Every year, 3.3 million students in the United States are suspended from school, causing them to miss critical learning time, as well as opportunities to grow and succeed.

Recent federal data show that Black and Latino students and students with disabilities are disproportionately targeted by suspensions. They are also likely to be punished more severely than white students for minor misbehavior, contributing to the achievement gap and high dropout rates for these students.

Solutions Not Suspensions is calling for a nationwide moratorium on out-of-school suspensions.

It then tallied an astounding 339 “violent and disruptive” incidents in 2008-09, the latest data show. Schools have helped create hostile environments in many ways.

When Mexican students in California threatened students who wore patriotic shirts, the school supported the ones doing the threatening and told other students not to wear flag t-shirts. The implication was that if you "offended" the students with the sight of an American flag, you were asking to get beat up. This matches the administration's approach to terrorists.

While they will go easy on students who beat other students up, they overreact to students, usually young children, who hold their hand in the shape of a gun or even mention a squirt gun.

It's all about political correctness. It's not cool to go after any minority for any reason, but those who indicate support of 2nd amendment rights or patriotism cannot be tolerated and will be treated like criminals with no mercy.

I am waiting for students to pay dues for being white. Maybe give up a grade point or something to that effect.
