Atheism isn't a religion. Being an atheist doesn't require any sort of mental or emotional investment, doesn't require a debate or discussion, there is no text to memorize, no rules to follow. No faith, no belief required. Just a simple fact. Like saying the sun is round, you leave it at that and there is no more to say or think about. The sun is round. Good. Discussion over.

Atheists lie. It is a religion like Buddhism is a religion. They just believe the lies are the truth; that's religion to me.

Here is one example. Satan is killing the atheists and agnostics in the blue states like there is no tomorrow. Every soul who is atheist/ag goes to him. I don't think it is a coincidence. Moreover, Dr. Fauci has lowered death rates to 60,000 from 100,000 - 200,000. Atheists must believe this number and things are getting better. Just read the NYT and watch CNN. They talk about the "new normal" and don't talk much about going back to work. I suppose they don't believe in Satan and can accept the deaths if it will help beat Trump.

As usual, you miss the point. The proof comes after you are dead. All atheists past, present, and future must see and believe. That is the greatest thing an atheist ever said for proof. No one can do that now unless we are facing end times. I don't think it is now even with COVID-19. However, it was written in the Bible that the dead will rise again in order to see, so that takes of the atheists complaints; Everything will be settled on Earth.

Your comment raised a question for me (sorry if it is off topic), namely how does God operate? When I drop an apple it falls. Is it:

• God decides to move that apple in that direction
• God created gravity and it is gravity that moves the apple
• Neither
• Both

God created the code that created the apple, and God created the code that led to your question. Since I am not God I do not have all the answers, it's funny how you believe you do yet you can't figure out how to pay off your loans

It’s much more than that. Intelligence is built into existence because intelligence is the source or matrix of existence. All one has to do to know this is to study the physical laws of nature. Complexification is the natural order of the material world. It’s no accident that intelligence emerged. It was literally preordained by the nature of existence itself. The universe is an intelligence creating machine.

Let’s chat about the atheist religion.

Believers in the mainstream god religions often denigrate and discriminate against atheists, non-believers and rival religions on moral grounds. Godless mean without a moral sense to them.

I seek a solution to this problem, as the godless, statistically speaking, seem more moral, law abiding and peaceful than traditional mainstream religious believers who, ironically, claim a superior moral position, while having an inferior one. Statistics are quite clear on this.

As a Gnostic Christian, I get it from both sides. From believers who see me as an atheist and from atheists who see me as a believer. Both sides are wrong, given that Gnostic Christians are esoteric ecumenist and free-thinking naturalist, --- who hold no supernatural beliefs, --- regardless of the lies put into history by the inquisitors who decimated us, --- but never annihilated us. We are a religion of perpetual seekers of knowledge and wisdom, who raise the bar of excellence whenever we think we have the best ideological position.

This prevents the idol worshiping of the immoral gods, that the mainstream religions are prone to follow. This makes Gnostic Christianity a superior ideology. Perhaps this open-mindedness explains the hate towards us from god believers, as well as towards atheists and other non-believers that believers target.

Solutions to this endless denigration and discrimination are hard to come by, given that governments are not promoting any kind of dialog between the various religions and non-believers and allow religions to continue promoting vile homophobic and misogynous teachings.

To my way of thinking, be you following a theology and named god, a philosophy of a named philosopher, a religion that puts man above god and focuses on knowledge and wisdom like mine, a political tribe like Democrats and Republican, statism or any other thinking system, --- all groups named are following an ideology, --- and can thus be seem and described as a religion.

It is thus proper English to call atheism a religion. In fact, given the stats, atheism is a more moral religion than most. I am thinking that if all atheist proudly took on the religion label, --- as their atheist churches are doing, --- more god believing religionist would likely opt for atheism as their religion so as to improve their moral sense.

Take your deserved bow my atheist friends. You are now second only to my own Gnostic Christianity. We Gnostic Christian did what I advise here before the inquisitors got to us and that may be why we were known as the only good Christians.

The problem is while only children believe in the Tooth Fairy, whole civilizations/cultures were at one time built around theistic religions. Of course other civilizations had their own non-theistic moral and philosophical traditions, like Chinese Confucianism. I agree that organized religions are usually founded on organized superstition about God, though many who identify with them don’t really care about all the theological ritual and seek only comfort and tradition and easy answers that religions provide. Most “ideologies” also provide comfort or meaning or sense of belonging, but they are not the same.

The idea of “atheist religion” usually is used today in the West pejoratively to mean ideologies like “socialism” or “communism,“ or to imply that science or even a tolerant secular humanism is (bad) “religion.” I don’t buy that.

I think the religious beliefs of our enlightened Founding Fathers in either Deism or in “natural law” and “natural religion” fortunately represented about the highest point our own then largely Protestant society ever reached. That is why the Constitution was so advanced in its treatment of “church and state.” But of course that didn’t mean the economic and social institutions were nearly as “advanced” as today. Certainly it was a time when Enlightenment thinking freed many leading minds, so they could get past much of the old Jewish/Christian mumble-jumbo of Jesus’ own time and place. I find the OP’s “Gnostic Christianity” strange because he so much embraces that old language and tradition.

But it is certainly true that overwhelmed by circumstances beyond our control, we humans naturally have psychological needs that religion and tradition succor. There are other spiritual needs we have, like feeling joy and awe before nature, and feeling the need for human solidarity. Theistic religions often use even positive natural desires to feed off of, but usually fail to celebrate them directly for what they are.

lol the idiocy that 'our Founding Fathers' were 'Deists' or 'natural law' types is of course just ignorant rubbish. Very few were, but then there are lots of morons who think the only Founders were Jefferson and Franklin, and evern then they get their beliefs wrong even in hindsight, quite an achievement in Stupid. The inventor of the 'natural law' stuff was in fact stealing his premises from the biblical books, and wasn't an atheist, either. In any case Locke wasn't even the main influence on Jefferson, that would be 'Bolingbrokeism', as clearly demonstrated by Forrest McDonald's excellent book.
