Joni Ernst: Several Democrat House Impeachment Managers Voted Against ‘Lethal Aid’ for Ukraine

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) told reporters during a break in the Senate trial of President Donald Trump on Thursday that several of the House Democrat impeachment managers had voted against bills providing “lethal aid” to Ukraine.

Democrats have accused Trump of abandoning Ukraine by holding aid for several weeks over the summer of 2019. Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) even accused the president, falsely, of causing the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers.

In fact, Trump had previously sent Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, unlike President Barack Obama, who had only provided non-lethal aid.

Moreover, Ukraine did not even know about the hold on the aid until it was reported in the media several weeks later. And witnesses in the House of Representatives impeachment inquiry testified that the hold did not affect the Javelins.

Ernst made it clear she was irritated with what she portrayed as hypocrisy by the Democrats.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), she said, voted against the most recent National Defense Authorization Act, “which included lethal aid to Ukraine.” Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Hakeem Jeffreys (D-NY), and Nadler (D-NY) voted against the last one, which also included such spending.

The only surprise is that Pelosi's dementia extended to her aids that didn't tell her to keep these idiots in hiding.

When Russia invaded the Donbass region of Ukraine in 2014, there were 12,800–13,000 casualties. 3,344 of those were civilians.

And Obama just stood there holding his dick and his thumb up his ass, refusing to send Ukraine lethal military aid.

the United States under Obama did provide extensive military and security aid but not lethal weapons.

Schittforbrains just said Russia was our enemy! When did that happen? Before or after Hillary took them the big reset button or before or after obummer whispered about his flexibility after the election?

Why does Schittforbrains think it’s horrible to investigate the Bidens but okay to investigate Trump?

When Barack Hussein told Romney that the 1980's were calling?

Trump signs ex order eliminating the aid Obama sent the Ukraine then makes a blanket statment about Obama not sending aid to the Ukraine.

lies are how the fat bastard rolls through life .

Obama authorizes $350 million of defense articles for Ukraine's military, including antitank and antiarmor weapons, ammunition and surveillance drones. According to the administration, the U.S. government has committed over $118 million in equipment and training for Ukraine's security forces.

By that time,Russia had massed more than 40,000 troops on Ukraine’s border and deployed about 7,000 to 10,000 Russian soldiers inside Ukraine. Poroshenko pleaded with Obama for meaningful aid, including an affiliation with NATO. He also asked for arms and ammunition, intelligence support, aviation fuel and night vision goggles. The Pentagon agreed only to provide the Ukrainians with supplies of U.S. Meals Ready To Eat.

Poroshenko continued for plead with Obama and the second time for
some peripheral gear such as radar, night-vision goggles and helmets. But once again it received no lethal aid that Poroshenko's country desperately needed, such as requested anti-tank weaponry. It was during his speech to Congress that Poroshenko said "blankets, night-vision goggles are also important" but that "one cannot win the war with blankets."

If Obama authorized aid and didn't send it, so what?

Russia invaded the Ukraine in 2014...

That means the Flexible Obama did not send military aid for the last 2 years of the Obama/Putin Presidency just like the Putin Puppet he was.

What you're referring to is the 2014 Ukraine Freedom Support Act, which appropriated $350 million in security assistance, including anti-tank and anti-armor weapons...

"President Barack Obama decided not to authorize the US government sale or financing of lethal weapons to Ukraine. However, this policy did not prevent the private export of US-made lethal weapons to Ukraine.

During the Obama administration, direct commercial sales of small shipments of lethal arms to Ukraine were reviewed, approved, and licensed on a case-by-case basis by the Department of State in consultation with the Department of Defense. The US government authorized early $27 million of commercial defense articles and services to Ukraine in 2016 and about $68 million in 2015, portions of which are classified as lethal weaponry.

It is through this process that US-made lethal weapons arrived near Ukraine’s front lines. According to a recent investigation, the Texas-based company AirTronic shipped 100 PSRL-1 (Precision Shoulder-Fired Rocket Launcher) systems to the Ukrainian state-run Spetstechnoexport in April 2017. Some of these rocket-propelled grenade launchers appeared during a training session of the Azov Battalion, a regiment of fighters that has been integrated into the National Guard, based near Mariupol in the summer of 2017. These weapons were reportedly used only in training exercises and likely returned to arms depots..."

Lethal Weapons to Ukraine: A Primer

So basically what Ukraine received in the form of weapons during the Obama presidency, were some RPGs, which are useless against Russian tanks. Trump sent them Javelin missiles, which will fuck up a tank.

The 2014 Ukraine Freedom Support Act I might add, was passed unanimously in the House and the Senate. That means that Schiff, Nadler, and Pelosi also voted to supply Ukraine with those commercially-supplied rocket propelled grenades.

By March 2015, the US had committed more than $120 million in security assistance for Ukraine and had pledged an additional $75 million worth of equipment including UAVs, counter-mortar radars, night vision devices and medical supplies, according to the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
That assistance also included some 230 armored Humvee vehicles.

He actually withheld aid for about a year...

Just curious. Do you happen to have a link to the House roll call vote on the bill?

The U.S. began sending Meals Ready to Eat to Ukraine but the urgent requests from Kiev for weapons, medical supplies and other military assistance remain on hold.

The U.S. European Command was in the process of sending 25,000 cases of the rations to the Ukrainian city of Yavoriv. The MREs should arrive before the end of the week, said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary.
