Isn't Jesus a democrat?

Loving foreigners in their own countries is fine. When they invade ours, and pillage our wealth, and make it THEIR wealth, that's a different story.

So if you support the Apaches who fought the Mexican imperialists then, then you support the Americans now who fight the Mexican imperialists too, right ?

Jesus said help the poor and the sick which sounds like every other democrat I know.
Democrats want the state to force everyone to "help" the poor and sick.
Jesus did not.
There you go.
Low-tax Jesus strikes again. The state in his day was the thing that nailed his naked ass to a tree. It's not exactly shocking that he didn't suggest the poor look to them for help eh?

And he had no issues with you paying taxes since money is the anchor-chain to Hell.
Money might be one of the anchor-chains to hell. Here's a few more >> immigration, affirmative action, Islam.
Even if true, that's the here and now. Is that what matters to a Christian because, it shouldn't.

Sure it should. Pushing any/all 3 of those things (immigration, Islam, affirmative action) is harmful to innocent people, and therefore sinful.

The difference is that Jesus wanted us to help the poor with out OWN money, not somebody else's.

^Before replying to the OP I want to publically clown that idiocracy. You don't need money to help people...

Jesus said help the poor and the sick which sounds like every other democrat I know. I can't figure out why so many democrats in the last few years seem hostile to Christianity. I don't expect people to accept the miracles or the whole died for my sins stuff but what about the things he said about being compassionate. Why throw that out with it? It just seems that the teachings of Jesus goes hand in hand with what being a liberal is all about.

Your post is good and something a lot of us have discussed and thought about. Jesus grew up in a time where the rich and the church were hand in hand and the people couldn't eat.

Many on the Left hate the Church because it's outlines have caused so many of the hate issues in the spotlight today. The male domination over women is in the first sentences. Also the fear of gays because the Bible says there will be many gays when the end of times comes. (Note it doesn't say it's because of gays...It does say do not judge or be judged though)

The majority of the people don't know the difference between Communism, Socialism and Capitalism. The fact is, scary Communism is the closest to Christianity. Communism is the theory that we have an abundance of materials and objects for everyone. In Capitalism we don't want to let the poor have clothing, housing, water or medicine without earning it. A noble concept except when you learn the history of oppression and think about the children deprived of food because mommy and daddy are crack heads.

"Closest thing" is key phrase here. The church is it's own entity, it's not a political party.

As a raised Christian I noticed at a very young age people infatuated with name brands of clothing and not just happy with clothing. As an adult I see people ask, "Who are you wearing" and want to puke.

There is an abundance of clothing in the world, yet some can't obtain it. There is an abundance of food in the world, yet some can't obtain it and die. There have been more un-occupied houses than homeless in America for like 8 years now.

American Corporations openly trash things people are willing to line up for. Because if there is an abundance, Capitalism doesn't work. True Christians would give that abundance to the people on hard times.

Good analysis, I was born and raised a Christian and I feel like I never really left the church but that they left me. Read this:

Shuck and Jive No More Crosses A Sermon

It sums up my personal belief better than anything else I have ever encountered.

And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone’s opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?” But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” And they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at him.

There you go.

Jesus never said it was the responsibility of Roman Government to care for the poor and needy FOR its citizens, he advocated the individual to take the initiative OVER government. Show me a scripture where Jesus forced the Roman Government to convert to His teachings and take on that responsibility over the role and responsibility of each and every man... each "individual"... to seek to the needs of the less fortunate. After all, who actually was viewed to be the "Good Samaritan", it certainly was not representative of a government official.
The story of the good Samaritan was a lesson on racism, not anything to do with the merits of giving.

Interesting how the parable doesn't go as far as to focus on the Good Samaritan's ethnic background. Are we to assume by your view, that only those who don't give money to a homeless man on a street corner are racist? So are we just looking for an excuse as to why an individual simply can't show compassion towards someone else? Usually if you view something solely through the prism of racism, then black and white is really all you'll ever see.

He was for tolerance, compassion and helping the poor duh. I see RW chumps of the greedy idiot rich now want to go back to the government social policies of the Roman Empire- what ignorant shytteheads lol...Enjoy hell. The Dems and socialists (you dupes don't know what that is) will be in heaven. tyvm

I don't think I could ever look at a less fortunate individual and say "it's the government's role to show compassion", and use that crutch as an excuse as to why I simply can't take some form of initiative myself. I don't know if I can be so cold as you frankoHFW, to pass the buck onto someone else. Do you find Jesus ever say to the government - When I was naked you didn't clothe me, or why I was in prison you didn't visit me. Perhaps you are looking for the government to provide you with that ticket to heaven as well?

Jesus is Jesus, liberals are liberals. Don't mix politics and religion. By simply stating liberals (and only liberals) are following Jesus' path you deny people's right to choose their faith and political stance for themselves.
Both Democrats and Republicans have done many things Jesus would have despised. Who are we to determine God's political affiliations?

Samaritan IS his ethnic background. Two "respectable" members of Hebrew society pass by the beaten man but the despised societal outcast stops and helps the man. The point of the story was clear to all contemporary listeners but has since been lost to modern people. Samaritans practiced a more primitive form of Judaism and did not recognize Jerusalem is the place to go worship and were hated and persecuted by Hebrews of the time.

Luckily, gov't has moved on and does help the less fortunate. Charity has high overhead to the point of being a scam, and dries up when really needed, like when Pubs get in and wreck the economy AGAIN with their corruptionand idiotic greed.. Investment in our infrastructure, education and training programs are ridiculously overdue. The GOP reaction is to whip up hate for the poor.

If you read the parable (LUKE 10: 25-36) it was a Jewish man who was attacked, a Jewish priest who walked to on the other side of the beaten man, and a Jewish Levi that also ignored him. The Good Samaritan, AIDED the beaten man by seeing to his wounds then paying for his stay as the robbed man rested. Again, where exactly is the racism? You haven't proven any actions of racism in the story except for your own twisted interpretation.

I already explained who the Samaritans were and that that they were the outcasts of Hebrew society and why, what more do you want? Just pick the group you hate the most and replace"Samaritan" in the story and then you will understand.

NEWSFLASH FrancoHFW, anyone can give to a less fortunate individual on a street corner, and stop to take them into a fast food restaurant to get something to eat. You don't need a charity organization in order to take the time and initiative to show an act of kindness yourself.

Btw - Obama and the democrats have been recycling that same speech since he first took office. The democrats also had both chambers of Congress to pass such legislation through the stimulus bill. The only reason they keep repeating that same message year after year after year after year AFTER year ... is because they have no other ideas on how to create jobs. ALSO, infrastructure is the responsibility of the STATE to maintain through tolls and taxes. Why don't you do a little history on the building of the interstate. The Federal government spent the money to build those freeways, but gave the responsibility to maintain it up to the individual states to do. What have the states been doing with all that revenue they were collecting? Is it the responsibility of the Federal Government to hold their hand and help them through it?

Sorry bout that,

1. Nobody has left all and followed Jesus, not then and not now, they all abandoned him remember?
2. They all failed as he knew they would and we would too.
3. Humans don't leave all and follow well.
4. Humans don't forgive well and not kill in times of peril or war.
5. Humans survive the best they know how or the less of two evils.
6. The human being is geared to fight for what they want, and usually it comes to a fight.
7. Nothing is easy in this world, and nothing comes without a price.
8. This I know and Jesus knows as well.
9. Ignorant people die while wondering what the hell to *do*.
10. Even Jesus said that we should arm ourselves, with swords.

Jesus is the Son of God.

According to his sucky fan club, Jesus the god is apparently a war loving, poor people hating asshole that needs a lot of cash. Jesus the man is someone who had a very profound effect on my life and was the early basis for my liberalism but apparently to the god Jesus my liberalism is a sin that will doom my soul to eternal torment.

This "war loving" Jesus / God you speak of ................ what war was tha texactly and can we get some dates??

I mean you ain't got nothin in the last 5000 yrs or so right??
