Is legal slavery in the US really over?

Amusing or not, it conveys your narrow range of knowledge to pull from.

The devil is in the details, ravikins. I double majored in psych and soc and can tell you that self-important "sociologists" are a dime a dozen and that often "conclusions" are based more on the hawthorne effect than any real truth.

in lieu of textbooks, ravi.. google is your friend.

There's no real difference between crack and powder. It's fun to pretend there is some racial reason why one group uses one and another uses another, though...isn't it?

there is a HUGE difference between crack and powder. Are you fucking nuts?

And, it's not a racial difference. It's a wealth difference. It's the same reason why white trash snorts meth instead of coke and WILL rock that shit up if they get some. Poor people can snort a 70 dollar gram of coke like wealthy people can.

If I am not mistaken a lot of crack is loaded with other nasty shit as well.

baking soda and a microwave can rock up some coke. A lot of poor quality COKE is cut with nasty shit by the time it gets to the hands of someone who would rock it up.

thats exactly it. His source doesn't relate the sample demographics in relation to the population that HE THINKS they represent. Thus, 5k positive white answers in rural monana compared to 1k positive blacks (20% of the population) would make bass thing that white people in montana are crack fiends.. a laughable notion.

but a notion that ole Ravi would don the pom pons for non the less!

If this is the case the burden of proof is on *YOU* to prove this, your suggestions don't don't count as proof nor as a refutation.

Big difference? The Bass doesn't think so, crack cocaine is no worse than powdered cocaine, imbecile:

Over time, numerous studies have shown that the physiological and psychotropic effects of crack and powder are the same, and the drugs are now widely acknowledged as pharmacologically identical. For example, a 1996 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds analogous effects on the body for both crack and powder cocaine.18 Similarly, Charles Schuster, former Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, found that once cocaine is absorbed into the bloodstream and reaches the brain its effects on brain chemistry are identical regardless of whether it is crack or powder.19

So whats the huge difference between crack and powdered cocaine? There is *NO* justification for powdered cocaine sellers/users getting less jail time that those who use/sell crack.

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug. The powdered, hydrochloride salt form of cocaine can be snorted or dissolved in water and injected. Crack is cocaine that has not been neutralized by an acid to make the hydrochloride salt. This form of cocaine comes in a rock crystal that can be heated and its vapors smoked. The term "crack" refers to the crackling sound heard when it is heated.*

Regardless of how cocaine is used or how frequently, a user can experience acute cardiovascular or cerebrovascular emergencies, such as a heart attack or stroke, which could result in sudden death. Cocaine-related deaths are often a result of cardiac arrest or seizure followed by respiratory arrest.

Same drug, different format.

I always thought smoking it had a more immediate and devastating effect on the brain.

Ok, I looked it up and I was right.
Crack cocaine hits the system instantaneously, resulting in a shorter high, which means you up the addiction ante. Also, it compromises the lungs, and results in more aggressive behavior than regular coke.

Cocaine reaches the brain through the snorting method in three to five minutes. Intravenous injection of cocaine produces a rush in 15 to 30 seconds, and smoking produces an almost immedi*ate intense experience. However, the faster the absorp*tion, the shorter the high lasts. The high from snorting may last 15 to 30 minutes, while that from smoking may last 5 to 10 minutes. Once the drug leaves the brain, the user experiences a “coke crash” that includes depression, irritability, and fatigue. To avoid withdrawal, repeated frequent doses are taken.

Long-term effects or high doses of cocaine can trigger paranoia. Smoking crack cocaine can produce particu*larly aggressive paranoid behaviour in users. When addicted individuals stop using cocaine, they often be*come depressed. Prolonged cocaine snorting can result in ulceration of the mucous membrane of the nose.
Cocaine & Crack Cocaine

"It appears that compulsive use may develop even more rapidly if the substance is smoked rather than snorted. Smoking allows extremely high doses of cocaine to reach the brain within 10 seconds and brings an intense and immediate high."
Cocaine

Its a myth, both snorting and smoking cocaine produces the same effect, just ask Shogun, he smokes crack.

Cocaine and Crack
"Although most cocaine in the US is snorted, smoking crack cocaine has become widely publicized. The hydrochloride salt is converted to a more volatile form, usually by adding NaHCO3, water, and heat. The converted material is combusted and the resultant smoke inhaled. Onset of effect is quicker, and intensity of the high is magnified."

Q:I don't understand the difference between cocaine and crack, do you?

A: Here's the score. Crack is a form of cocaine that has been chemically changed so it can be smoked, rather than snorted. When you smoke crack, the chemicals reach your brain in 10 to 15 seconds. When you snort cocaine, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to feel the effects.

Q: That must mean the effects of crack a more intense than with cocaine, right?

A: That's right. I've read that the high is so intense that heavy crack cocaine users often don't eat or sleep. This causes them to get sick. Just like with cocaine, the user can become physically and mentally dependent on it. Becoming addicted goes without saying.
