The only thing that requires a long, hot teaparty is your mouth, with Obama's balls and ass

Imbecile

I find amazement how the right totally vilifies war heroes and then expects the Military vote...

The problem you have is that you are so far right and so uncompromising that any misstep to the left is treated as an insult...

I know Hillary is not all we want her to be... But she is running from the middle...

By selecting Trump you allow Hillary to run left of center... Thanks lads.

It has traditionally always been conservatives - with values - serving our country.
Glad I'm out. Those were the good old days
In Obama's military of queers openly serving, low morale, and senior leadership abandoning the military like rats from a ship, it's anybody's guess whose serving these days
Reminds me of how fucked us things were under carter and Clinton while serving

First, my question was in response to the comment that a Democrat started the Vietnam War.

I love the way some here call people morons and then show how ill informed they are. I happen to agree the war technically began under Truman, but escalated into a hot war with Eisenhower.

Your timeline is missing a key event. It totally ignores the canceling of the brokered and agreed upon reunification referendum of 1956. Nor does it touch on Truman's involvement. Truman approved of and supported the recolonization of Indochina by the French. The support was in the form of weapons and material. That was the earliest involvement by America with hostilities in Vietnam.

Eisenhower continued the support and endorsement of the effort to help the French fight the Viet Minh. In fact, he inserted American CIA agents under cover of its company, Civil Air Transport which flew supplies to the French all over Indochina. Two of its agents, pilot James B. "Earthquake McGoon" McGovern and co-pilot Wallace Buford were killed in action when their C-119 Flying Boxcar was hit by ground fire while parachute dropping an artillery piece at Dein Bien Phu on 6 May 1954 and crashed in Northern Laos.

Two factors complicate the Truman connection. One is that the military supplies were funneled through France as part of the effort to rebuild the French military in Europe. Even though it was well known and documented that the French were transferring the supplies to Indochina, some think it gave some level of cover for Truman that the supplies were not going directly to the French in Indochina. The cover, however, fades away when the topic is looked into in depth.
The other factor was the murder of Lt. Col. Peter A. Dewey who was killed in a suspicious ambush on the way to the airport on 26 September 1945 with a report recommending that the US get out of Vietnam and disassociate from the French efforts. Contents of the report or at least Dewey's opinions were known and the ambush took place while he was on the way to the airport to fly back to the USA with the report. There are many who believe the ambush was conducted or supervised by the French. The written report was lost in the ambush.

Both Truman and Eisenhower share responsibility for Vietnam. Truman could have nipped it in the bud and Eisenhower could have canceled American involvement when he came into office.

Military folk have very little respect for pretenders like Barry and slick willy...

As a vet who still keeps some ties with people I served with let me be clear. The vast majority of military personnel are Republicans and dislike Democratic leadership. Me, being a moderate liberal, represent a small minority voice of the military population.

With that said absolutely NOBODY I know with military ties (myself included) is a fan of Hillary Clinton...pretty much the exact opposite in fact. We have no faith in her ability to lead us from a military standpoint.

I was in the guard for eight years, and sell firearms to The sheriffs department here. I sell a lot of firearms to military folk and police for their personal collections. I find the same - very, very few police and military are in the least supportive of Democrats. The Clintons are held in very low regard with the military and police.... The Clintons in general have disrespected the military greatly…

WARNING: This post contains facts.

FACT: On October 26, 1967, McCain's A4 Skyhawk was hit by a North Vietnamese surface-to air-missile and was upside down and out of control by the time he was able to eject into a lake in the middle of Hanoi.

FACT: McCain's father was a big shot Navy admiral and McCain could have easily chicken hawked out like George W. Bush and joined some Air National Guard and gone AWOL but instead he flew dangerous missions off aircraft carriers which in an of itself takes brass balls.

FACT: McCain was in terrible pain from broken legs, but believed that since Hanoi was a Geneva signatory, he would be taken care of until he was taken to a hospital. It didn't happen. He received no medical attention, and the interrogation and the torture continued.

FACT: When Hanoi learned the identity of McCain's father they crowed, "We have the crown prince!" and he was asked, "Do you want to be released?" McCain refused that offer.

McCain admits that he was tempted. He was in dire need of serious medical attention, he had dysentery and was rapidly losing weight he could not afford to lose. His chances of surviving this seemingly endless war were diminishing. He said he'd have to think about it.

A few days later he says his interrogator said, "The senior officer wants to know your answer."

"My answer is no," McCain said.

When asked why, McCain said, "Our Code of Conduct says we must not accept parole, amnesty or special favors."

FACT: McCain knew that the likelihood of of dying in that torture chamber was high yet he stayed.

FACT: In Trump's own words: "He's not a war hero," Trump said. "He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

Will you vote for a chicken hawk draft dodger who lied and slandered John McCain whi is clearly war hero? If you voted for Bush you already did. Bush told horrible lies about McCain.

McCain's medals for heroism and valor.

I wouldn't call McCain a hero, but he did a lot more for the country than Bush, Obama, Trump, Clinton, and Sanders put together. I don't agree with him politically, but he certainly has my respect.

When John McCain was the Republican nominee in 2008 I remember the left saying the same kind of stuff about him that Trump has said.
No you don't

Show me a single candidate for president who said anything derogatory about McCains war record

The U.S. military appreciably improved the day that "Senior Chief" (yeah, right) Pollack was booted out.
Yes...he was a real "Warrior"
