Zone1 is it offensive to say Paddy.s day instead of Patrick.s day?

"Paddy" reminds of Irish jokes involving alcohol.

Paddy was gravely ill and sequestered in a small room with a low door. His friends would visit him and all would imbibe until they were well 'into their cups'. As they left they voiced encouragement to Paddy,

"Paddy me boy, yool be up and aruund in noo time atall."
"Paddy me lad, we'll see ya doon at the pub.
Last well-wisher stumbled out banging his head on the low hanging door frame and muttered, "Thay'll naver git the cahfin oot the door."

some always take offence!

:)
Irish have thick skin. Cromwell tried to kill them all and send whoever they captured to plantations down in the Caribbean. I am 1/2 Irish (and the other half German) with the most Irish sounding surname in the world and Paddy doesn't offend me.
