It is just common sense that college students with drive and ambition and talent go on to use those attributes in the workforce to advance science, medicine etc. and obtain financial success. The slackers often use their college degree to pursue a career in teaching in public schools. The MIT grad is not teaching high school in Baltimore. Those that can use their education, do so. Those that can't... teach

Not long ago, a teacher would have been embarrassed to admit that it was too much to ask, to simply teach a student to sign his name in cursive. Good grief, our kids do not know how to sign their name...literally. Are they expected to use an X.... like the illiterate in the past?

With the ever evolving technology why is that important? Just because it was in the past does not mean it will in the future.

Do we write in cursive here? It was created to make writing long pieces quicker and easier. For many that is no longer something they need to do.
