In this age of political correct stupidity why does the iconic Hollywood sign still exist?

The sign stood for Hollywoodland. A segregated community of elite whites who used Mexicans, blacks and Asians as a workforce but refused to let them live in Hollywoodland.
Most people are probably oblivious to the purpose for the sign and assume it is about the movie industry. While that misconception is understandable it is completely inaccurate.

The iconic sign represented the segregation values of the elite whites of that era.

In an age where a solitary word can get you fired or worse, an era where southern flags and are offensive and historical figures are being removed from common public places, the elite left of California have once again exempted themselves from their own political correctness.
