Even the Socialist measures adopted under FDR are a dismal failure. Social Security is bankrupt.... Medicare and Medicaid are bankrupt... the "War on Poverty" has not decreased poverty by any substantial measure given the $20 trillion we've spent to do so. 82 years ago, FDR signed into law the Minimum Wage and he proclaimed at the time, "Any corporation which cannot pay a living wage has no business operating in America!" .....82 years later, we hear the SAME cry from Socialists!

Socialist programs don't work... they FAIL... then they have to be repackaged and re-marketed to the public under a new name. They FAIL again, and AGAIN have to be repackaged and re-marketed to a dumbed-down general public who doesn't know history and therefore, doesn't learn from it's mistakes.

A socialist program, Social Security, now getting old is not an automatic sentence of grinding poverty for the working American. Police, military, fire departments, are all socialistic institutions. Laisse faire capitalism does not work, pure socialism does not work. A mix that allows individual endeavor to be rewarded, and protects the citizens from those whose endeavors harm others is what works. We see that in this and other successful nations.

Well no, not really. Police, fire, military and national parks are not Socialism. You call them "socialistic" but that's a misnomer... a clever one, I'll give you that, but a misnomer all the same. You see, these are examples of constitutionally authorized collective actions approved by the people through the democratic process. Our framers understood there were some things that couldn't be handled effectively through free market enterprise... the military, for example. So they established a way for us to collectively handle those things under constitutional authority. That's not Socialism. Socialism is when government owns the means of production and the people have no say.

There is not a "mix" ...things are either outlined in Article I Sec. 8 or they aren't. If they're not, then they are left to the states and people to decide, not the government.

Pure capitalism doesn't work because Capitalists are only motivated by profit. Free Market Capitalism is not pure Capitalism. Free Market means you have a market that is free, operating through freedom of enterprise by free individuals, where there is fair competition and price is determined fairly through supply and demand by the free marketplace. Free Market does work... in fact, it's the most fair, equitable and benevolent system man has ever created. What destroys it is GOVERNMENT.
