I'm Leaving, on a Jet Plane....

If you can possibly avoid the Charlotte airport, do so. Unless you really enjoy very, very long walks through very large airports.
Direct flight from here to st.Pete/Clearwater for less than a hundred bucks each! It was cheap! It's a bit farther for my sister to drive and pick us up than Tampa, but heh! It was direct instead of changing planes!

Florida bound for a couple months of winter to visit with my parents and older sister....we'd stay longer but the hubby and I both have some medical appoints with specialists that took 8 months to get so we don't want to reschedule!

The hubby and I both hate, hate hate hate hate hate to fly....and I have been on airplanes flying since a baby, with dad being transferred all the time! And it was easier, when he was in the plane when a kid....I was scared, but felt comfort of sorts with him being there....I

But since the hubby and I both get scared and much closer to God every trip with our prayers to make it safely, we seem to build on each others fears....

my parents are still doing pretty good ...dad will be 92 next year and mom is either 89 or 90 next year....I can't remember.... Dad still drives, they still live alone in own home, my sister lives around the corner from them and cooks for them dinner, a few times a week! They like to eat out a lot now too....if they have a doctor's appointment in the nearby city, they always dine out while there there....

they just might make it to 100! Their 70th wedding anniversary is next year also! They still are pretty active....mom still cleans her own home, still irons her clothes, still wants to look young and dress with the latest fashions, make up before going out in public, it's absolutely amazing that my older sis and I are her children....since we are perfectly comfortable in sweats and a tee, or flannel for me and jeans here ....and not as prim and proper and caring about attire, as she cares....even at almost 90 for goodness sake! She still has her normal gate, dad has begun to walk like Biden, so he is starting to stiffen up I suppose....?

I'm so fortunate to still have both parents! My hubby lost both of his parents ages and ages ago.

If y'all don't see me posting, the Plane went down, and Matt and I have already united with our two beloved kitties, at Rainbow Bridge!
You'll be fine. Mile for mile, flying remains as one of the safest forms of transportation. I hate flying for other reasons these days, but fear of not reaching my intended destination isn't one of them. :)

Has anybody not seen this movie?

Made it! Worst flight ever, except...we did land, and in one piece!!!

still on the drive home, to sister's home...

I will give you an instance that had me somewhat worried with air travel. I was on a Saudia flight from NYC to Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and when the pilots landed they got out of the plane faced Mecca and did a prayer....

Back when TWA was flying the Constellation, I flew as a passenger from NY City to Boston and the damned thing sounded like the rivets were popping out. The engines appeared very sluggish as well. I earlier was on a flight from Berlin Germany to Frankfurt Germany and the pilot was landing when there was snow all over. And he bounced the plane like a ping pong ball. That kind of had me concerned.

I wonder if all the passengers rated it the worst flight?
:)
I think they rated it the same!

Even the pilot kept coming on the intercom, basically apologizing for the extremely bumpy ride, from Maine to Florida, not a moment of a smooth ride!

Yep! I'd say that must have been a rough flight!!

Those are the flights passengers dread. Pilots of course understand the causes so are not particularly bothered. Would have to review the weather records that day but won't since you know more than I do.

Some were injured by the turbulence recently on a flight to Florida.

Yes! Heard about this and another incident, both at Clearwater airport, and both Allegiant Air, which was the airline I was on, Allegiant Air!

Weather was bad, down the whole coast...pilot said he was going to fly a pattern right off the coastline to avoid it, but if that bumpy ride was avoiding it, I'd hate to think of how it could have been any worse!

We have a live video cam out our kitchen window to watch all the wild animal friends of ours....mostly deer, racoon, and wild turkeys...

We reviewed it last night to see if any of the critters came for the corn and apples we left for them....

The corn and apples were still there, but the weather was super duper windy...howling wind and it was pouring...this was a front that had been working up the coast towards us in maine, that we flew through, I'm thinking?

Sounds like it was a Front. I am not as familiar with the East Coast weather as I am the West Coast weather. Fortunately every flight I have been on in the East never had such turbulence as you had.

Just remember, this state is one of the best places to live, which is why you are coming here. Dont bring your Democrat crap with you and vote to make it like Californication or any other shithole state. It is fine just the way it is.
It’s not the best state for wages

I looked into travel nursing in Florida during the winter to get out of Michigan when it snows, but the pay is terrible. At least $13 less an hour then anywhere I’d make up here

How can people live on such low pay

My parents are doing good! Even dad looks like he's doing better than the last time I saw him! Amazing! My older sister is doing good too!

Pictures at my older sister's house, right after dinner, my mom always falls asleep for 15 minutes, like clockwork after every dinner meal, and dad says to her, come here Mom, lay your head on me....

They are so cute together! 92 and 90, in 2024....amazing! 70 years married next year. If only Matt and I could live that long! Not a chance! But it's worth the HOPE!

Good thing your dad stayed conservative when it came to marriage. If he was like today's pansy ass men, you might not of been. When you see him, give him a hug and a kiss and tell him thanks for being normal.
