I'm a Liberal and Herman Cain Scares Me

It's quite an amazing thing, to hear the right wing talk about people not able to respect a "strong black conservative man."

Do they ever ponder the inverse? That they can't respect a black man in general unless they are conservative? That a black man isn't worthy of respect unless they think like they do.

There's a huge list of names/faces of successful black people I could toss up here that would elicit nothing but a strongly negative response from those who support Herb Cain. It'd be harder to find individuals that they are neutral about.

Does it come as a surprise to you that we don't like liberals no matter what color they are?

Bravo! Then why with this Herman Cain "our blacks are better than your blacks" shit?

If he scares liberals then he must be doing something right.

The fun part is how Cain scares the Republican powers that be..

"Do you mean this guy may actually be our candidate?"
Of course he scares them. He commands the true mantle of Conservatism as the Founders laid out.

They on the other hand tend to gravitate toward status quo...the people said last year to them that wasn't good enough and changed the House.

Look for the rest of the sordid mess to be straightened out by the same people (that are growing in vast numbers), next year. There's nothing you can do to stop it.

From your keyboard to God's ears my friend.

I see it. I talk to many people daily in my work...they see it too...the problem, the parties.

The District Of Criminals is about to get an enema that will make Pelosi's 'draining of the swamp' look like a bunch of partisan words in which they were...meaningless. The first step happened in 2010.

Well that direct quote, Ann Coulter... but it's also spoken all the time in various different forms... like whenever anybody compares black people with conservative views to all other black people with any sort of political opinion whatsoever.

But you are cherry picking. We constantly compare conservatives to liberals, as you all do in the opposite way. We don't treat blacks and whites any different, if they are conservatives, we support them, if they are liberals we don't. Quit trying to bring racism into places where it doesn't exist.

Ann Coulter is almost never serious.

As everyone knows...

Our founding fathers were LIBERALS
As am *I* A classic LIBERAL. Now explain YOU and your capitulation to Socialistic Ideals which the Founders were NEVER about?

There is no such thing as a "classic" liberal. The term was invented by conservatives to explain why they are consistently on the wrong side of history

I think Cain make a fine GOP contenter.

His POV resonates with a lot of conservatives.

I won't vote for him, but so what?

That is, if anything, proof of his conservative bono fides.

I think what is appealing about Cain has nothing to do with Right vs left. People are just drawn to someone they see as an Outsider and a straight shooter. Will he win? I don't think so, but his style does resonate with people.

We need our president to know when to be Diplomatic and when to just tell it like it is, even if that means telling us something we don't want to hear.

All I know for sure is Obama ain't it.

As everyone knows...

Our founding fathers were LIBERALS

For their time they were Liberal. Any honest assessment of their actually Beliefs and Ideas put on paper can only conclude that they were more like Modern Day Libertarians than Liberal Democrats. By a long shot.

Liberalism as we know it today has evolved into Big Government, Nanny Statism. That my friend is something our founders would have not recognized, or wanted when they set up this country.

Each era faces it's own challenges

Those challenges are faced with either a liberal mindset or a conservative mindset. In the case of the founding of our nation, it was the liberal mindset that prevailed

To try to pretend that the challenges of today are similar to those of 235 years ago is childish. So is pretending we can resolve them the same way

Yes classical liberal

To try to pretend that the liberals of today are the same of 235 years ago is childish

Liberals are liberals

They look at challenges and develop creative solutions to meet them. Conservatives will drag their feet and defend the status quo.

235 years ago we were a bunch of dirt farmers. We were what would be called third world today. To pretend we can use the same solutions today that were needed 235 years ago is ridiculous

You miss the point. Modern American Conservatives don't give a flying fig what color anybody's skin color is. They give respect to those who merit respect and do not give respect to those who don't deserve respect.

The left however puts a great deal of stock in skin color and how people should behave, what they should be entitled to, what words they are allowed to use, how they should conduct themselves, and what political party they should support based on the color of a person's skin.

Nobody is more aware of that than Herman Cain as the left has put a huge target on his back, much moreso than any other viable GOP candidate, just because he is a black man. The left does not easily allow one of 'their people' to wander off their reservation. They sure don't want to put any notions like that in other heads.

your use of the word liberal is simplistic, at best

The liberal of today would best to be compared to "liberal helping" of other's things

However, if it makes you feel better to believe they are same
I will not take away your delusion

Liberals are constantly evolving to meet evolving challenges. To assume that a liberal of 235 years ago would have identical beliefs to a liberal today is utterly simplistic

Conservatives of 235 years ago supported a royal class structure......You want to hold today's conservatives to the same standard?

I certainly agree with Code1211, the fear of Obama being re-elected paralyzes me! I'd rather see Mr. Obama get his "on the job" training in another position. Perhaps a teacher at Berkley?
Maybe he can go back to giving lectures on the Constitution?

I'd rather he gave lectures on it than wipe his feet on it.

When did he do that? Link to the actual event plz.
