If your kids turn out gay, would you kill them as Bible/Islam imply?

From the time of Adam until Moses, the prophets and the people of God had the high priesthood which is after the holy order of God. This priesthood is also known as the Melchizedek Priesthood. In Moses' time, he brought the children of Israel out of bondage from Egypt into the wilderness. It was God's plan to sanctify his people and have them enter into the presence of God in the wilderness. But the children of Israel were a hard hearted and stiffnecked people who refused to humble themselves and prepare themselves to receive greater light and truth. They rejected God and his will to bring them to the true knowledge of their God by allowing them to see him. When Moses came down off of the Mount from being in the presence of the Lord, his face did shine because God's glory was upon him. The people had this witness that Moses had actually been in God's presence yet they refused to prepare themselves to enter into his glory. For the people to prepare themselves, they needed the high priesthood and the higher law. But the children of Israel were not humble and refused to partake of God's goodness. For this reason Moses and the High Priesthood was taken out of their midst which meant that the higher law was not to be given them but a lesser law, a law of carnal commandments. This lesser law along with a lesser priesthood continued with the children of Israel until John the Baptist who was called on to prepare the way before the coming of the Lord. When the Lord came, he brought with him the higher priesthood and the higher law.

Doctrine and Covenants 84:14-27

14 Which Abraham received the priesthood from Melchizedek, who received it through the lineage of his fathers, even till Noah;
15 And from Noah till Enoch, through the lineage of their fathers;
16 And from Enoch to Abel, who was slain by the conspiracy of his brother, who received the priesthood by the commandments of God, by the hand of his father Adam, who was the first man—
17 Which priesthood continueth in the church of God in all generations, and is without beginning of days or end of years.
18 And the Lord confirmed a priesthood also upon Aaron and his seed, throughout all their generations, which priesthood also continueth and abideth forever with the priesthood which is after the holiest order of God.
19 And this greater priesthood administereth the gospel and holdeth the key of the mysteries of the kingdom, even the key of the knowledge of God.
20 Therefore, in the ordinances thereof, the power of godliness is manifest.
21 And without the ordinances thereof, and the authority of the priesthood, the power of godliness is not manifest unto men in the flesh;
22 For without this no man can see the face of God, even the Father, and live.
23 Now this Moses plainly taught to the children of Israel in the wilderness, and sought diligently to sanctify his people that they might behold the face of God;
24 But they hardened their hearts and could not endure his presence; therefore, the Lord in his wrath, for his anger was kindled against them, swore that they should not enter into his rest while in the wilderness, which rest is the fulness of his glory.
25 Therefore, he took Moses out of their midst, and the Holy Priesthood also;
26 And the lesser priesthood continued, which priesthood holdeth the key of the ministering of angels and the preparatory gospel;
27 Which gospel is the gospel of repentance and of baptism, and the remission of sins, and the law of carnal commandments, which the Lord in his wrath caused to continue with the house of Aaron among the children of Israel until John, whom God raised up, being filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother’s womb.

The gift of the Holy Ghost is a gift that is only bestowed through the higher priesthood. When the higher priesthood was taken out of the midst of the children of Israel, they, as a people, did not have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Moses had it and the prophets of the old testament received the higher priesthood, but the people as a whole did not receive it. They did not have God's spirit with them as individuals. For this reason it was necessary for God to give the people a very strict law of carnal commandments to keep them from turning toward sin. Thus diverse laws and ordinances were given in the law of Moses that seem quite harsh to us today. This is why you see a difference in law of Moses verses the law of the Gospel as given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Hey Look! Newbie can copy&paste! :biggrin:

Now step 2, try formulating your own comment.
Anyone who scoffed at accepting knowledge on authority of others would have to go through life knowing next to nothing as 99% of what we know was learned in this manner.
You've leaned 99% of what you know through copy&paste? That explains a lot. :lmao:
I guess the concept of accepting knowledge on the authority of others is beyond your intellect to understand. My bad.
Copy&paste is the lazy person's response. You do that a lot.

Your response is not unexpected. When one has truth on his side, he argues facts. When one has logic on his side, he argues reason. When one has neither, he does what you just did. The reality is that people who scoff at information for no other reason than how it was delivered are intellectually inferior.

Obama was no Godsend, Sessions isn't either....

Question: If your children turn out to eventually be gay, would you kill them as the Bible/Islamic texts imply, or are the Bible/Islamic texts wrong? Which is it?

“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

If you reply "I don't follow the OT", that's great - then admit that it's wrong (or else you'd follow it).

I believe in loving gays, so of course I think we can move beyond the morality in the Bible/Islamic texts since they got it wrong.

Your opinion?
Why r u obsessed with homosexuality? :gay:

The New Testament also says homosexuality is a sin...all through out the Bible it's a sin
As a Scientific Humanist, if we had Jesus' super-powers, we would of course have taken a mere 15 seconds out of our entire life (or out of the 2000 years that Jesus has been allegedly "watching over us") to simply say "write this down - gay is ok, treat gays as equals."

I hope that more and more people get on board with this new love of humanity.

Well according to the Bible gay isn't OK....in fact it's an abomination
Jesus defining marriage as between a man and a woman (not man/man, nor woman/woman) is part of the underlying problem that we need to overcome, if we are to overcome intolerance with love and understanding.

A better way is to define marriage as between man/woman, and man/man, and woman/woman. Doing so will elevate one's level of love and compassion to a level so high that it's even higher than someone as great as Jesus'! Elevating your level of love to be even higher than someone as great as Jesus is a very worthwhile goal in life - to say the least!
But u said JC hates gays :wtf:

Wrong interpretation of the passage, but are you atheist? That would explain it being wrong. Atheists are usually wrong.

Religions can "evolve" during the years. You can see Christians used violence in the past but now they don't do any violent act.
So you don't have to choose between killing your gay children or declaring Bible or Koran wrong.
Plus religious texts must be decoded because parts of those books are allegorical :)
